Default Big thumbsup to the ECHC guys from the 944 Cup

I have to admit that given our hits and misses (pun intended) in the past I had a minor reservation about joining our groups for the remainder of the year. Obviously I couldn't see everything that went on out there but that said, I think we had some very clean racing out there today and kept our series' battles from spilling over into the other series. From what I saw on my little piece of track, people were curteous and let the faster cars from the respective series get by without much hassle.

We'd also like to apologize for sucking the life out of Saturday's race. Several of our drivers commented that while it was nice that we kept the damage to ourselves, you guys really got the the short end of the stick. Thanks for being forgiving enough about our mistakes not to let them interfere with all the green we had today. Feel free to curse us under your breath, 'cause every one of us 944 driver we would have been doing the same thing.

You guys earned a lot of respect among our drivers this weekend and hopefully we'll be able to return the favor over the remainder of the year.

The only problem i had was many of the 944 guys didn't seem to want to move out of the way when the Hondas come up behing them......they should have known they were being lapped.?.... i got pushed into the grass coming up the straight to turn 10 (3 944's wide and I was much faster than any of them.....but I had to take the grass to pass)

I also had to wait from turn 5 until the front straight to get passed a 944 turbo...... he also had to know he was holding me up..... at that point I lost all of my lead (at the time i was leading).......

Edit - i think there was too much inconsistnency.... some 944 guys would hop off line which is sort of scary when you coming at 50mph faster....others would stay online which was good and they would maybe slow alittle or give a quick point by... and others it seemed had no idea we were behind, or were just trying to race a car that was about to lap them.?

that is all the whining i will do.......... Sorry to whine... i had fun... just kind of frustrating from my perspective......

Luckily for me I didn't touch with anyone.

944 Cup + Legends = More fun than the law should allow . . .

I am gonna propose that pairing for future events.

At least this didn't happen during your race group:

Turn 1 F&C (screaming): "Control this is 1!!!!
Control: "Go 1"
Turn 1 F&C (screaming): "I just had 3 Cobras go 3 wide through turn 1!!!"
Control: "Was there any contact or incident?"
Turn 1 F&C (still screaming): "No! . . . . But they went THREE WIDE!!!"

*At this point everyone I can see with a radio on is shaking their head. This includes most of EV and grid*

Control: "Did anyone go off track?"
Turn 1 F&C (still screaming): "No! . . . But they went THREE WIDE!!!"
Control: "Ummmmm . . . thank you 1"

I think if there are 3 cars battling for position and they're all trying to get by another by going 3 wide, one can't really expect them to move out of the way just so you can get by. If there's a car by itself I can see it, but I wouldn't expect someone to stop their own race so I can continue mine.

Our drivers were specifically instructed to say on line when being passed. Unfortunately, as with all events it seems, they don't always do that. I think that tends to happen more times than not but at least we can be glad no one got together.

Me: "Pit out to control"
Mark: "Go pit out"
Me: "Gerald just informed me that he really doesn't want to do pace car duties - he would much rather work a corner"
Mark: "Well he has to earn his manhood somehow"
Me: "Well driving the pace isn't gonna cut it"

I'm an outsider, but it doesn't seem to this outsider that there's a way to permanently solve that issue as long as different series or different classes are running together.

It seems to me that if you eliminated the 944 Cup as a potential bottleneck, you'd next have to think about H3 and H4 being a bottleneck for H1.

Welcome to racing.

Road Racing 101: It is the faster, overtaking car's responsibility to make the pass and make it smoothly and cleanly.

It wasn't their responsibility to let you by if they were battling for a position.

Yes it was. It's good to see that the S2000 is not only competitive, but can win in H1. Good job.

maybe too many cars were out there? the H5 & H4 Honda guys were very courteous in my experiences.

to H00siers....cause I hate the fact that I'm not running them

to distributors and cheapo spark plug wires

to not pitting in and driving a borked car till it gets more borked

to everyone that helped out

to seeing friends having fun out there

Scot, you have to realize that the "slower" cars are racing for position as well, and you can't expect them to be curteous. It's up to you to pass them safely...and it would be nice if one also did that without screwing up their race....this is all part of racing.

Or go back to TTs

Congrats on the awesome finish!

Agreed...Although it's great to be able to put slower cars between you and your competitor, make them deal w/ the traffic and test their skills that way, you don't want to just kill someone else's hard fought race.

Scott--First congratulations on the finishes this weekend and for knowing when not to make low-percentage moves that would ruin a race just as important as yours. The other H4 drivers and I only wish that we received the same courtesy on Sunday that you showed this weekend.

Also, big ups to the remaining 944's on Sunday. We went from complete mayhem as early as Saturday AM practice (I think many people were trying to learn the track and didn't necessarily know the line), to a mostly safe race on Sunday.

I don't think I was one of them. I think I only got by a handful of H5 cars on Sunday in my 5th place finish. Our top 3-4 guys are really freaking fast though, a lot faster than me.

It didn't take much to pass me...a honda running on 3cyls = antithesis of fast

was a great weekend, even though the HC race on Sunday was 80% full yellow. Not that fun to watch, or drive I'm sure, but that was just one session of the weekend. I had great time in HPDE3, by the end of the weekend everyone was really flying around the track in that group, even the ground hogs and deer wanted to be on tack in HPDE3 (luckily no one hit em)
