Default **quick question for auto to manual swap...axles and pedals**

ok, im trying to make my ef as economical as possible becuase i need a very good gas mileage car. i have a 1989 civic dx and im swapping in a 1988 crx hf d15b6 engine and manual trans. the dx is auto. im wondering if the dx automatic axles will fit into my d15b6 manual transmission when i swap it in. or vise versa, could the hf axles fit into the dx hubs. either way is fine for me i would just rather not change the knuckles and hubs. im trying to stay away from that if its possible. also, i have a friend that has some manual pedals from a 1987 first gen crx. i was wondering if those pedals would work in the dx. any help or suggestions would definatly help me out. thanks

you will need manual tranmission axles from a DX or Si. The HF axles will not fit into the DX hubs.

the DX/Si axles will fit into the HF Tranny no problems.

ok...not to argue but i did hear that there were no differences between the auto and manual axles. if this is true and you say the dx/si axles will go into the hf trans then i would just use my auto dx axles. any more clearification on this?

thats true, auto and manual axles are the same.. but crx_88_Si is correct.. The hf and dx/si axles are different... th e hf had different hubs than the si or dx.. so what you could do is use your dx axles with the hf tranny... although you cant use the hf axles with your dx knuckles.. make sence?

so using the dx axles in the hf tranny(y)
using the hf axles (n) you'll have to change knuckles

ok then that's perfect. since you say there are no differences between the dx auto and dx manual axles then i should be able to use the dx auto axles and fit them into the hf manual trans with no problems. if this is true which i will find out this weekend then that's simple enough for me.

you guys know anything about the pedals though? you think i would be able to use those pedals i mentioned above from the 1987 1st gen crx?

You could use the pedals, but I can't guarentee everything will bolt up fine. I would recommend though finding a pedal set out of 2nd Generation CRX or 4th Generation Civic.
