Go with a b16 if you have the funds go with a bigger b series.

ok i look at it this way;

for the money will end up spending on a B16a1 ( about $3000) you can 1)buy a DOHC ZC engine, mount up the Si tranny...get a full exhaust system..build a cheap turbo, get engine management and have more power and the sexy sound of a turbo for about the same price as just putting in the B16.

And the bigger of a B series you go i'd imagine they get more expensive so that why i say

get a D series

It depends how much money you have. The b series are a better engineered motor. They have under piston oil squirters, stouter rods, and a different type of valve lifter, not to mention vtec.

BUT there is a lot to be said about the d's as well. For one, they are cheap, and easier to get into the car. And you can make a d motor just as fast as a b if you but some effort into it. 12 sec daily driven is well within the realm of a sohc d. It's just easier with a b.

By the way, turbo ZC's are awesome.

I dont know to many people that spent 3000 grand on their motor. Maybe this guy doesnt want to build a diy turbo. If he wants to go all motor he is going to be **** out of luck with that dookie i mean d series. Sorry

i haven't personally driven/rode in a B series swapped CRX, but my stock engine has some ***** in that little car. But if you want na motor then i'd have to say go with a DOHC VTEC also. But for a daily driven turbo on a budget...DOHC ZC with a cheapo turbo.

mines not done yet so I havent driven in one eather. I opted for the b series when I rode in a guys b16 hatch. fookin fast. I wanted the VTEC but GSR's are alot more and really not worth it. you get a better engien but not for the price diff I was seeing. so I opted for the LS, the car is almost doen so well see when its finished.

I have been in a diy turbo d series and actually my buddy and i blew the motor but the power just isnt there. Yes it had power and pulled but it just didnt have the power something turbo should have. Then on top of that a 93 gsr spanked us. And everyone who knows anyhting knows thats basically a b16 with a little something extra. All he had was i/h/e short shifter and driving skills.

If you had a ef/ed with a turbo d16, with good engine management like turboedit, you should not lose to a 93 gsr with bolt ons.

KaoticSnow I noticed you're in Hanford, I'm in Delano for the summer. Do you know Steve, he use to work for modern performance. don't know if he still does. pm me.

I recommend searching before posting a question like this. My opinion is to ask yourself what are my goals with this car that are attainable. Start from there and decide which way is the most practical.

Getting a b-series is just the beginning.
Our cars should have had b-series from the factory like they did in japan.
