Default Brake fluid draining question

In the Helms manual, it says not to mix brake fluids, but it doesn't say how to drain the old fluid. I want to replace it with DOT 4. Does it just drain out after you disconnect the hose from the caliper?

EDIT: Oh, when you're bleeding the brakes, you're just getting air out of the lines, and not draining the fluid, right?

when you bleed the brakes you are releasing fluid and air so just bleed the system and you will be fine

Most DOT3 & DOT4 brake fluids are compatible with each other. Just empty the reservoir with a turkey baster or something like that. If you're worried about it mixing, just keep bleeding long after the air is gone. That flushes plenty of fresh fluid thru the system so the old stuff is all gone.
