Default 1500 Mile trip in a 248,000 mile accord? No problem....

Well I just got back from my vacation with the girlie. I could have taken my 2000 Integra, but why? I have the most reliable car ever built...

When I left, the odometer read around 248,8xx. When I returned, it read 250,3xx. Altogether I piled up just over 1500 miles on it.

So what's the verdict on the Accord's performance? A+++++++++++ We had temeperatures in the mid 90s and heat index over 105 all week. Sun was beating down on the car everywhere it went...and what did it do? It performed flawlessly. The a/c blew ice cold air in stop and go traffic and in some cases, standstill traffic, and the temperature gauge never moved one bit.

I got 34 MPG on the way down averaging 70 MPH with the a/c on, and 33 on the way home after upping the ante and cruising with traffic around 80 to 85 (Thank you Valentine One, lol)

I could not have been happier with how the Accord performed, although, I was not surprised at all. Currently sitting at 250,3xx, I would not hesitate to jump in and drive it to California, around 3000 miles away.

This is just proof that if you take care of the car, it will take care of you. Accords are just young'un's even with over 200,000 miles on them.

BTW, here's my previous thread before I left https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=840911

I also have some pictures I will be posting up showing the odometer rolling over 250k and some pictures of the body work I did with my girlfriend's dad on the Honda rust spots...it looks like a brand new car again.

The car had received Valvoline Dino oil it's whole life from 0-248k. 3k inteverals with the original owner, 2500 mile intervals with me.

I decided to switch over to Mobil 1 SuperSyn and I figured 'why not do it now before the trip?' So I did. It didn't eat any oil and never did before the trip. And no, it did not leak any oil either since I switched from dino to synthetic, haha.

There was a very nice 90-93 Accord down there...it was black...had a body kit...dual exhaust, sounded niiiiiiice. I wish I would have gotten a picture of it. I'm not usually one to like body kits and dual exhausts on four bangers but this one was tastefully done.

Without going into details, synthetic is better. But the only true synthetic you will find at wal mart is Mobil 1...everything else isn't really a synthetic. Again without getting into details you'll just have to believe me, lol.

Synthetic flows better during startups, protects better, and is much more stable at high temps...basically it is a superior oil.

This car is going to make it to 300,000....easy.

BTW, the original owner used dino oil from 0-242,000 miles like I said so dino oil is still great stuff so long as you change it on time and religiously check your oil levels.

Thats cool, yea when I get my h22 in (which is hopefully soon) I am thinking of runing synthetic. Now here is my question to you, how often do you personally change your oil with synethetic?

Me? I'm ****...in my Integra Type-R I run Amsoil which is even more expensive than M1...I change it every 2500 miles...one could easily go 5k on that oil but I'm not them....I feel better knowing it's out and fresh oil is in...

In the Accord? I will change it every 3k. Again overkill...one could go 5k on Mobil 1 too...but I feel better changing it, lol.
