Default Anyone out there making over 180whp take a look

To keep things short and simple here it is. I do NOT understand this and want some feedback. Why is it that nobody thinks that this set up will yield me 180whp. Is it because i have a GSR and not an R??????? Here is the set up

2000 GSR

AEM ITR CAI, cam gears, u/d pulleys, DC JDM 4-1, test pipe, greddy SP exh, skunk2 intake manifold, 64mm TB, FPR, P28 ECU, AFC.......about to install USDM ITR cams, valve train, valves and pistons along with a Mugen head gasket.

Conclusion: SO basically, i have a GSR/TypeR with , 11:1:1 compression AND so i here the GSR head flows better then the TypeR. I have been told 175whp if i am LUCKY by a few reputable sources. I have seen dyno plots of GSR's running less extensive mods making 180whp with stock 10:0:1 compression. Why is mine any different???? Please anyone, tell me if i am missing something. I have forked out a lot of cheese and need to know why tuners are telling me this. Maybe i need to upgrade my AEM license plate frame to a Greddy frame or something. Thanks

i doubt the skuck mani, the larger TB will help you much, not with ITR cams.

Or just throw it away...

i dont think u know what ur talking about:
skunk2 mani is similiar in design to the ITr mani and ITR TB is larger than GSR by 2mm and im sure his is at least 64mm. this is a great combo with ITR cams.

i think u will see mid 180's with ur set up. just tune the hell out of it like u should with anything on a dyno

Coming from someone that has already lost it I guess you'd have a pretty good idea.

180 whp is cake with that set up. With the Skunk Manifold and ITR cams alone that should get you close to 20 hp. Stock gsr put down anywhere from 148-158 to the wheel. Plus your other mods including pistons (which if they are JDM ITR will give you about 11:5:1 CR) You are definitly in the 180s. Your gonna need to tune though, nothing is plug n' play with that setup.

BadBoy: Wow. I've ****NEVER**** seen a stock OBD2r2 GS-R put down 148, let alone 158. Consider that ITRs put down 160-165 stock and I think your numbers are off a bit.

You should be able to see 180whp with that setup. I've done a VERY similar setup on an old tired motor with no valve upgrades (free power there) pull 175 to the wheels on my dyno. So a strong running, more modified motor should see that easily and then some. If you are interested in some dyno time, BTW, I am local and can assist you. Thanks.

didnt know he was obd 2, but I have seen dynos of a 96 GSR that was putting down 152 stock, timing at 18 BTDC. And there was a dyno on here of a 2000 GSR converted to OBD1 making 150 or 151 WHP. I also saw on this board two ITRs that were putting down 165+ whp stock.

Dave - it's the first thing I look at under a post that interests me...

yes, but he listed a P28 ECU, which means hes probably converting to OBD1. Definate for that

Yeah, I'm not sure where you got those numbers either. I've seen some stock GSR's dyno at 135whp. I'd say most are around 140.

Awesome. Good thing you don't drive it on the street, my buddy has a turn down on his GSR that's painful. Which "side wall" will it be pointing to? I assume the side closest to the dyno...damn we got off subject on this real quick!

John: Actually.. it's the daily driver right now.. with the 450lb springs up front, 600lb in back and r-compounds. I figure if the exhaust is loud enough I wont hear the tires anymore And yeah, it'll be coming out the pass side in front of the rear tire. I might put a turndown on it for the day.. we'll see. Once I finish the buildup of the beaters motor, the teg wont be driven much again
