Man, I wish mine was that easy, I wasted 5 hours yesterday on my SiR trying to remove the balljoint
and I used a lump hammer and ball joint splitter!!!

I used a pickle fork with a regular hammer when I changed my axle. It took me 15 minutes from the second I put the car on jack stands to the second I dropped it and tightened the lug nuts

Pickle forks **** boots. Honda put those pads there so you could whack them and the ball joints would pop out.
it only takes a couple of good whacks, not to mention then you can save your 15 bucks that the pickle fork woulda cost ya and get some alone time in a XXX video booth.

so i would assume to get the outer tie rod ball joints out of place you just hit the rod ? or is there a better place to smack it? ive torn those boots as well. what happens if you don't replace them? problems later on?
I just jam a crowbar between the lca, and the knuckle, and yank up. No grease loss, and a 10 second job, it works great...but scarry the 1st time(loud pop). Ryan

Not to whack them. If you notice there is one on each side and the bolt has a hole in the middle the correct way is to use a puller.
So no you are NOT doing it the CORRECT way.

Hell, it may not be the right way, but I can attest to the fact that it works like a charm. Doin my clutch right now and we musta been hammerin at that ball joint for about 2 hours. Tried with the fork and then went wit this method. Popped out in about 10 more mins of hammerin.
i just pulled my axles and i sat there for an hour or so tryin to pop the LBJ's. went out got the fork and oppped em loose in about 20 seconds. Use the fork, it is the easiest thing to use
...several methods of removing ball joint:
1. remove LCA and entire knuckle. with it out, hammer it off.
2. use an actual ball joint separator
3. place a large screwdriver between the axle and the LCA, raise/lower the suspension until it pops.

From easy to hard.
1. Whack it with hammer, may or may not work.
2. Get your pickle fork, for those who tear boots grease the fork pretty good before trying.
3. Ball joint sperator, what the tabs on the side of the LCA are made for. Should work 100%.
4. Remove the whole deal and beat the **** out of it.
If all fails, buy a whole new assembly, you *****.

one of those i guess pickle forks in an air hammer = removing the ball joint in 20 seconds!
I fought for hours with one of mine; then got that fork and threw it in my air hammer; 20 seconds later the bitch was out. I didnt know if i should be happy it was out or mad that i wasted so much time before

you just have to put the pickle fork in the right spot for the boot not to tear... i have done this about 10 times... and i am very precise where i place the pickle fork and still havent rip the boot yet...
