Yup RS*R ex mags are supposed to be very quiet. Comptech also makes a fairly quite exhaust. I have an ITR catback on my car and you don't notice it at all except at higher RPM's.

The louder the better!
****'em off!
It will never be quite, so make it loud!
Also; I dont know what your setup is but i noticed my exhaust tone smoothed out once i put in a lightweight flywheel
goodluck

apexi WS is nice. My buddy has that on his LS and it sounds pretty much stock. I just bought piping from kteller, a glasspack race muffler to use as a resonator, and a magnaflow muffler (6x9 i believe) and had an exhaust shop weld it up for $166. Sounds deep and a bit louder then stock. To give you an idea you can still hear the intake whistle at part throttle.
I spend 260 on the pipes around 200 for the resonator and muffler and the 166 i mentioned above for the welding. They charge a little more then a normal shop but they do bad *** work.
Ive also heard great things about the fujitsubo rm01a but it is pricy ($700?)

I've asked a similar question, I asked for an exhaust that looks stock, and sounds stock until you get on it, and has decent power gains, I was told RSR Exmag and APEXi WS
For my setup, i got a 2.5 carsound, cherry bomb, and an oval muffler i got from ebay. Took it to a muffler shop and the welded everything together for $190. It sounds as good or better than any brand name ive ever heard.
Looks like you have plenty of options here but I have to offer mine as well. I got a Magnaflow muffler off Ebay and took it to my local private exhaust shop. I got 2.5" piping from the catback (I've heard 2.25" is better but a turbo is a future option). All in all, the set-up probably costed about $130 and I absolutely love it. I could give you no negative comments about Magnaflow. The sound is good and deep and not ricey at all. Check out their website http://www.magnaflow.com to listen to some clips of their exhausts.
