GSR JDM compresion ratio
It wouldnt be worth the work to just put in Type-R pistons. With a compression ratio of 11.1 : 1 you wouldnt be gaining that much. You'd be better off getting a higher compression piston (maybe 12:1) because the difference would be more noticable.

i think his gains would be noticable with the type r pistons and more so with the jdm type r pistons (11.6:1 i believe)since he would be raising his compression ratio a full point or point and a half. other mods on his car would help also, like cams, etc. ifeel if he goes 12:1, he would be pushing it a little too much.

And if he can't get the jdm ones for whatever reason would it be a good idea to get the USDM pistons and a thinner head gasket to up compression?</TD></TR></TABLE>
usdm type r pistons should give him around 11:1 compression ratio. with a thinner head gasket, it might be more, but i'm not sure how much. personally i'm not a fan of going with thinner head gaskets, but that's just me. i have'nt heard of anyone having bad experiences with them though.
you can check out different compression ratios on

I've seen the spoon and mugen head gaskets advertised to increase compression by about .3 .... so that would mean with USDM ITR pistons and the headgasket you would be getting about an 11.4:1 cr
