Advan A032R ? yes or no
Street - no
track/autox - yes
Keep r compound tires off the street, or they may turn around and bite you in the ***. A032R's turn to rock after about 20 heat cycles. Worse than a performance street tire at that point.
Oh, and if you've never heard them before...

going to put some A032R tires on my stock rims
any advice??
any advice??

I would not recommend them for autocross tho because they need too much time to heat up, in which autocrosses won't allow you to do.

I street drive with them. If traction is a HUGE problem, get them. If you want better launch traction get the 555's cuz the A032R's sidewall is very hard. If you put tons of miles on your R don't get them! If you street drive them expect around 5000-7000miles off of them. And thats with heatcycling them and yes heatcycling does work.
As for track use, hell ya they rock!!!!! Since I don't put that may miles on my R I can just drive them around on the street, then when a track event comes around I can just pull onto the track and go! lol

The R compound in the A032R is considered as "hard". That's why they used to have A032RS and A032RSS overseas (then A038 and now A048) and the poor US is still stuck with the "antique" A032R.
Yes the s-03's are good but pricey!
The latest Buzz in daily rubber especially for you since you are in sunny Cali are the Falken Azenis. Check for sizes that will meet your demand. They are getting good reviews by GRM, several R owners and Track guys in the Competition forum here. Plus, they are pretty affordable; 205/50/15's go for just $62. a peice with a wear rating of 200.
Good luck,
A.

if hard = 80 treadwear rating, I wonder what the RS and RSS are?
And I don't know what all this is about them being "hard". I've been using mine in plenty of track events (lots of heat cycles) and they're just fine.
I use 205/50-15 Dunlop D98J H compound on the front and 195/50-15 A032R on the rear. For fun sessions I use ADVAN A048 215/50-15 SS(super soft) compound. All of the tires are loud but nothing grips like 'em! Get H compound for tires that will see a lot of street usage!
There are many compounds out there:

Hey, has anyone tried the Dunlop D01J? My friends have told me that's the tire to have in Hong Kong. It's supposed to be a really lightweight and soft competition tire. I unfortunately won't have the chance to see any until next week (I'm going to HK and then Japan
) and was wondering if anyone has tried them...

I got the A048 as my race tires for the track. They are awesome!!! They are extremely sticky but they wear out FAST !
I have been using Toyo Trampio 08R , Dunlop D98J , Potenza Re540SS , Advan A032R (Supersoft) , Advan A038R (Supersoft) and now Advan A048 (soft). here are my comments :
Trampio - softer side wall, very good on rain.
D98J - almost the best tire by that time before A032 came out. Very grippy but SUCKS on rain....... this tire is not design for ppl to drive on rain.
RE540SS - not bad on the street. I was expecting more than that but maybe my suspension setting was not tune to work with this tire.
A032R SS - not bad on rain and it has a very hard side wall. Pretty sticky, I ran alot winding roads and I like them. They wear out WAY faster than the USDM A032 cuz the A032 that we get here, they only comes in hard compound.
A038R SS - side wall is softer than A032, the grip is pretty like much the A032RSS but SUCKS in rain.
A048S - its not too bad too rain but EXCELLENT
Performance on dry. I have improve 0.5 sec for my lap time... I highly recommend it.
I love JDM tires but however there are also some other tires that I would like to try like HOOSIERs
I have heard a lot of good things about them and this really makes me to think about after I finish with my Advans.

D01J's are improved D98J's! The hard compound has a decent life and the super softs don't last very long if you use them on the street. If you wan get the scare of your life ..... drive thru gravel or dirt with a set of S-tires! I thought my car was losing it's parts the first time I used S-tires but I soon figured out that the rattling sounds that I kept hearing were just rocks flinging against the car after being picked up by the tires...
You can buy the USDM Advan tires from the your local tire dealer. If you want JDM Advan tires, I can import them for you but the price will be higher than the tires you get in N.A. Please email me if you are interested.

my friends in HK said they are the best in HK.
