my car is back!!!!!! my experience and what ive learned
hey guys . the turbo D is back!!!!!! after 2 long months without a honda its finally in my posession again. ive learned alot and have experinced the finer things as well as really shitty things . first let me say that this is my experience , i dont care how you were treated and if you disagree , this is my POV . after blowing my motor i turned to modacar in livermore ca. ive done buisness with them for years and love them . they recomended AEBS for the motor sleeving and buildup , ive herd good things about them and agreed . i also said that i was considering benson . im glad i went with aebs but i paid for it in the end . modacar called AEBS and told them wussup , they said they had a d16y8 block , sleeved and o-ringed ready to be built , and if i sent my parts in(cp pistons and pauter rods) that they would have it done in a week . WOW i was loving the one week part . so everything was good right??? NO . after 2 weeks modacar called , and this was the beginning of bold face lies and coverups from AEBS . first if they even answered the phone the person didnt know anything and said to call back . this game was played many times with no answers from them . one begins to wonder when you dont get any answers or customer service help from a good company . about a month passed and AEBS said it was in the machine shop....wait a minute i thought you said it was all done? well i guess not they had just started . modacar as well as myself were starting to get pissed and tired of the runaround . finally they said they had shipped it , great!!! .3 days later they call and say they hadent shipped it they were waiting on the crank . WTF!!!!!!! AEBS told modacar 2 more times that it had been shipped when it didnt . so 2 months after a promised 1 week turnaround , the block arives . it looks great!!! but no o-rings , i was charged for o-ringing but no o-rings . but despite the bullshit , the quality was top notch and i was happy . ready to start the buildup??? nope , aebs forgot to mention that the pistons stick .002" above the deck surface , "they were the wrong pistons" they told us . we measured the deck surface and turns out it was actually .004 above , and that they had machined the deck . but it was the wrong pistons , ya ****** right . so we had to order a custom cometic . so the buildup began after the gasket was recieved . after modacar working their asses off staying way past work hours , going way beyond what they had to do , the car is done! i cant say enough good things about modacar . they have my buisness for life for all the things they did. AEBS on the other hand are run by a bunch of immature people who could care less about the customer , but their work is fantastic , so i guess you have to take it up the *** for a good motor . i highly recomend modacar if you want your car done right . enough bitching , here is the motor :

full balance and blueprint by aebs
GE fuel rail
GE vac mani
greddy EG street legal kit(old kit from stock motor setup , gt35 turbo and other stuff comming very soon)

a fucked up aem filter , dont mind it ill get another one
autometer pro comp boost , air fuel , egt and oil pressure guages
head is all stock as of now , but i will be doing it up after the new turbo setup is on.
and im keeping the a/c!!!!!!!!!!

I feel you man, I had lots of problems with my motor to, Remember? Good stuff though, I wish you the best of luck on your break-in period. Hopefully, I get to ride in it someday. Well, gotta go back to work on the J52's Nice rims btw, LOL still waiting on them. But its cool no rush.

i heard that turbo is awesome. was talking to rod from precision about it. apparently the GT turbine wheels actually make quite a difference

Why would you go through a middleman like Modacar when you could have gone through AEBS yourself? It sounds like Modacar is shity too and your making excuses for them.

where the hell would you get that idea . i know the owners and every worker there personally so i know how they operate . and i have neither the tools , time or resources to disasemble a motor , ship it ,recieve it then reinstall .

and im just breaking in the motor right now , its got 52 miles on it!!!!!
ill be running max boost on this little turbo untill i finish my new setup . im expecting high 200's out of this thing . car drives great at 9.0:1 too .
it was tuned at 10 lbs before i melted a piston . thanks cheapo gas!

they are the original spoon mirrors , and yes they are the real ones!!!!
good luck finding them . they havent made this style in years . and mine still have the rubber seal around the mirror , they are mint!
