Car wont start
i swapped in a B16 in my 90 DX and now nothing happens. i turn the key and absolutely nothing happens except the check engine light turns on. starter doesnt turn over. fuel pump doesnt turn on. could it be my main relay? is there a way to test them? anyone have any other suggestions? the starter works. the fuel pump works. the battery has plenty of juice. all the grounds are fine. i tried 2 different ECU's (PWO and PR3). i'm not really concerned about getting it to start right away but i at least need it to do something so i can diagnose it. i would just like the fuel pump to turn on and the starter to click. then i'll go from there. but what should i do to get it to happen?

well if the starter isnt turning on then you DO have a loose connection somewhere, double check the prong plug that goes onto the starter and see that its properly secured

i'm pretty sure its not anything that is loose. the prong is tight. i put a jumper wire from the main power to the starter to the signal wire and the starter clicked like it should. according to the voltmeter all the grounds are good. the fuel pump doesnt turn on at all. thats why i am thinking that its something more than something just not loose. its like theres no power in the car at all. would the check engine light come on if the main relay were bad?

yeah the CEL would come on, the thing that is bothering me is that the starter is not cranking at all, which means there has to be a lose wire SOMEWHERE, if the fuel pump isnt coming on that could also be due to bad grounds or the main relay

was the car perfectly ok before swap, ie no problems; driving etc?? or did you just bought the car not running and swapped it in?

i bought the car as a shell. it had a motor in it that ran before but it didnt run very well. i also put in a fuel cell with an MSD Inline pump because all the fuel stuff was rusted
what happens when the main relay goes bad?

alright now the fuel pump turns on. i didnt do anything to it except unplug the main relay. the fuel pump turned on without the main relay plugged in. then i plugged it back in and it still turns on

alright well now that i've let the battery connected for about a half hour now the starter comes on. now i'm getting somewhere. fuel pump and starter working. woohoo
well i got the car to start. then it stopped. now the fuel pump doesnt turn on and theres no spark. i just checked for spark through the wires and havent broken it down any further than that yet. anyone have any advice?
you say you have all your grounds. just making sure but do you have the ground on the thermostat down tight? i forgot about it early on in my swap and i would get fuel sometimes and other times not. the only time i would was when the ground for the thermostat would accidentally brush against the thermohousing.
