jus got b16 tranny on da LS!!
man this is by far my best upgrade so far.....car sounds like a frickin bike and all the gears just fly up there....especially since its matched up wid the 7.5lbs flywheel! All u LS non boosted guys definitely consider this mod, its pretty sick. No more 3rd gear whoas.......tonight ima take it out and see if i can get a run against a slightly moded prelude, si or gsr and see wat happens...wanna see how i hold up against them.

How is it with highway cruising? That's the only thing I'd be worried about. Running too high an rpm constantly for so long on an LS motor. I'm sure it's awesome in city driving.

i know that a B18c1 tranny on a GSR...80mph is roughly 4k rpm give a take a few.
B16 tranny will yield 4.5k-4.8k rpm at 80mph give or take a few.

not true, remember it's torque that pulls you through the gears quickly. the faster you can pull through those gears, the faster you'll accelerate. and remember he has a b16 tranny now...which has shorter gearing than a gsr...and he has more torque than a gsr. i would almost guarantee that he'd take a stock gsr considering that he knows how to drive. a B16 is cake walk. but i'm not sure about a prelude...

Raced a 96 GSR w/ I/H/E from a stop and from a roll.
Off the line, I out-launch him. When he pulls close, i pull away more each time i shift. Same thing everytime. Off a roll, its the same deal. I pull on him through all the gears.
Since, the ls blocks are 1 k less of red-line then the GS-Rs, the shifts come sooner. So this is the best mod for people that want to stay all motor.
So I have about 130 hp stock and he has a bit more than 170 hp stock. 40 hp advantage and I still beat him??

I only got my *** handed to me when I had a stock a1 trans.
Ever since I got my S1, everything thing has been great. Beat two modded 3rd Gen GS-Rs, three SI's, and one 98 Prelude.
GS-Rs, SIs, Preludes aint squat to me.

i use to pull on my friends si all day long with just a short throw,intake and exauhst. this battle is going to go on forever...
but back on subject, i was thinking about getting that tranny? what about the rpm on the freeway? and also gas milage now?

last night i was on the highway cruising at about 90mph on 5th gear and i was at about 5 grand!!! and the gas mileage does kinda suffer somewhat.....but 0-60 is a blast....loving the mod. its the best thing i've done to my car by far..

no i'm not saying this because i drive an LS. it's because it's true. if you knew just a little about gear ratios and tq vs. hp then you would too understand that an LS with shorter gears(B16 tranny) will toast a GSR anyday of the week given the same mods. and please don't get my LS involved as i am a big fan of VTEC motors. but at the same time i'm sure that my LS will walk over your GSR anyday of the week.

please don't post if you don't even know you're talking about. an LS Motor with more torque will out accelerate a GSR given it has shorter gears. a GSR will however out run the LS on the highway given it's higher HP. so there are 2 different kinds of fast we're talking about here...1320 fast or highway racing fast.

Varies greatly on mileage/condition/year/etc.
GENERALLY anywhere from $800 and up. I've seen them go as high as $1200. Please note I said "generally." You can get them for $200 if you look hard enough.

I have a B20Z with a B16 Tranny, I am using a 96 LS ECU (for inspection purposes), and I am running 97+ Prelude injectors. I do an even mix of city/hichway driving and I got a measured 24.6 mpg last week. The pull in 5th gear on the highway is great! I almost never have to downshift to get going on the highway! Torque is fun!
From experience. An LS with a gs-r tranny is quicker than an LS with an ls tranny. I put a GSR tranny into an LS and my gs-r was still quicker. He did race a lot of GSRs and beat them but I think it had do with driving skill not that his car was faster. I would still pull the crap out of him in 3rd gear no matter what tranny he had.
I dont know what you guys are talking about.I raced my friends 98 lude with exhaust.I had i/h/e/cat and no ac or ps.I beat the car bye about a car from a rolling start too 120.With the b16 tranny you should do some damage against all the cars you listed...
