Removing paint from ITR calipers...
I bought my R second hand and I have been meaning to remove the red paint off the OEM R calipers because I think it looks silly. The problem is I dont want to soak the caliper in paint stripper and risk possible damage to the caliper (ie. pistion seals). Any ideas??? Also, do they offer rebuild kits for our stock R calipers???
Wire brush and/or Dremel perhaps?
Yes, they do offer a rebuild kit for the ITR calipers. In my opinion, it would be easier to exchange the painted calipers for a freshly rebuilt set than to try and strip off the paint.

This is what I did, use a cloth or brush to apply the paint stripper ensuring it only comes in contact with the caliper body. Let is sit for 5-10 minutes, then use a wire brush to remove the paint. Repeat till the caliper looks like you want it to.
After you are satified with the results, drench the calipers with water (garden hose works) to remove any residue paint stripper off of your calipers.
<---also a victim of purchasing a used ITR with red calipers.

yeah...i thought it might. Usually personal projects turn into disasters. Where can I get a set of Re-built ITR calipers?
The P/Ns are 45018ss0a00 and 45019ss0a00. (You must love the JDM parts CD!) I know that these were used on the 97- Preludes. I also think that they were used on some Accords. The seal kit is P/N is 01463st7r00. It costs about $20, and you will need two of them.

a friend of mine used some kind of eagle one wheel cleaner.
took the paint off to nice silver metal. i think eagle one makes some kind
of heavy duty wheel cleaner.
let just say, while he was cleaning them, a little splash hit his lip,(lip on his face, not a front lip
) and made a nasty burn on his lip.

What is the deal with painted calipers? Are these just bad paint jobs? I noticed that many caliper paint jobs look chalky.
After I installed my Mugen MF8s, I had to paint mine because they had much corrosion on them. I chose Ford engine red paint for the actual calipers and gloss black for the caliper brackets. I sanded and primed the calipers before the paint application. My paint job actually looks good. Check it.

Does anyone here knows the stuff that you buy off AutoZone or other auto parts store about this producut in an aerosol can that you spray on the paint and it removes it like magic? I forgot what it's called. I've seen it somewhere in H-T about thsi guy using it to remove the paint off his valve cover.
DOES ANYONE HERE KNOW WHAT I'M TALKIN ABOUT?

i have to agree with dogginator here, i chose to paint mine red with high temp epoxy paint because they we're rusted and i think they look great with my Mf-10's (almost same as your picture although 16' with biggeR rotors)
they came out looking smooth, i sanded them down with a steel brush mesh bit on my drill so all the rust would leave, the only way i could have gotten them to stay stock looking was to clear coat them so i figured i was gonna paint em. Like it or hate it kinda thing i guess, i wouldn't call it ricing out my R though, as compared to rust it's somewhat of an improvement

Unfortunately for those of us in the snow belt, road salt will swiftly turn that bronze color to rust.
The remaining corrosion protection lingers as white spots. Painting or powder coating is the only way to fix this.
I think a common mistake people make when painting their calipers is to paint the caliper bracket the same color as the caliper. I am not a fan of that look at all.
