Exhaust system - 2.25" vs. 2.5"
What kind of exhaust sytem does everybody use? Diameter? Number of dampers?
N/A engines only plz
I'm especially curious about differences in 2,25 and 2,5" systems

If you're going to bring exhaust dampers into this, you cant leave out muffler bearings.

LOL, lord help anyone who takes that page seriously. I love the "Forged Kuhneutson Valve"... with the description "Our superior Kuneutson valves are superior to the inferior kuhneutson valves!"

Wonder if you can get the JDM titanium ones now?
Priceless, purely priceless.
Dampers afik = shock absorbers, but I could be totally off base I guess

Heh. I guess the "muffler bearing" joke never gets old.
Maybe something is lost in the translation considering his location.

I get the joke :D
Must be something like sending a new kid to the shop for "tire repair kit" for an electric reachtruck (these have rubber massive tires=LOL) or get a box of "spark plug sparks" hehehe
damper = absorption resonator?

haha
damper = resonators (here in the states)
search around for SMSP and you can see a popular custom set up and resonators that are used.

I thought a muffler is the last damper in a system??
Anyway.. 2,5" seems mostly used.. how about the resonators vs dB's , I don't want to have a lot of noise.. the riceboy type of noise, only attracts cops.. An exhaust system should sound like music to my ears
I think I will have to have it custom made, more expensive but build to my demands, also I will not have fitment problems

These guys are cruel.
You can not go wrong with a Mugen Twin-Loop system. It has one resonator and the twin-loop muffler. It has a slight rumble at idle and is relatively stealthy until high RPM (6,000+). The pipe diameter is 66mm behind the resonator.

I rocked the Twinloop for over a year and loved it, although it does have a big bottleneck where the b-pipe meets the catalytic and until after the first resonator. It was designed to bolt up to the stock catalytic, so the pipe diameter is around 2", after the resonator it increases to 60mm (2.36 inches) not 66mm (2.6 inches). Fantastic sound, not loud at all until warmed up... if you fixed the first bottleneck it would be one of the ultimate exhausts all around IMO.

My twin-loop is JDM.
There is no bottle neck. Of course, I had to modify my cat to fit. I can't wait to get my Mugen 4-1 header and the JDM DC2R cat installed.

Wonderful.
So what gains did it provide you, other than sound?
And for certain it ain't 66mm through, more like 2" in some sections.
So it's a $900. some odd dollar catback that may or may not provide any gains. As opposed to some proven catbacks that do absolutely provide tangible gain numbers.
H'mmm.

I withdraw the 66mm diameter, as I was pulling it from memory. The pipe from the catalytic converter to the resonator is 2.19" (55.6mm) OD, which matches the outlet of the JDM catalytic converter perfectly. Beyond the resonator and in the twin-loop, the diameter is 2.492" (63.3mm) OD. This is measured from my exhaust. For a used exhaust with shipping from Japan, I paid $460. My stock exhaust needed to be replaced anyway, which would have cost $217.78 and $177.85 for the muffler and b-pipe, respectively. So I spent an extra $64.37 for a high quality, fully stainless steel exhaust system that looks and sounds great.
Mugen exhausts aren't proven? Surely you jest, 1GreyTeg. The only reason that I considered the part was because Mugen provided a dyno. Plus I liked the fact that the exhaust is not loud. That is my opinion.
So in summary, someone asks for help, and all that you can reply with is sarcasm and unsubstantiated cynicism. Would you care to enlighten us with your vast knowledge of dyno proven exhausts?

I'm thinking of taking my car to a specialised company which makes custom exhaust sytems, according to own taste in looks and sound. It costs almost a month's pay but well worth it because these exhaust systems last longer than most cars.
The B18c5/6 reacts very well to a good exhaust sytem, the difference in 2 and 2,25" is very noticable, sadly the 2,25" exhaust leaked.

My comment and quote to you was based upon you just responding with an improper diameter and letting us know you liked the sound.
In the beginning we were joking witht he original poster I guess basically because of a language barrier or difference but nothing harmful or intentionally hurtful. And the original poster obviously got the point and seemed to not be as offended as you got.

Again though, Not bashing Mugen. IT was a comment about manufacturers advertized dyno's and or the cars they are tested on. It is a decent exhaust, nice even. And I can appreciate your opinion, after all, you did buy it for a nice price without the bottleneck.
