Default Critique my plugs after 400 miles....

This was right when we started it the first time with no miles or load on the engine. Only idle time.

These are with 50 miles on the motor.

Here are the ones from tonight. (#4 to #1)

#4, #3, #2

#2 & #1

My theory is that the best looking plug (which is #1) had less oil poured down the spark plug hole before it was started. pretty sure of this.

The other 3 just took longer to seat the rings. (The engine smoked for the first 200 miles).

Let me know know your thoughts.

Honestly, it seems awesome. Runs very well. Has 400 miles on it. I am going to put the big injectors and resistor box in this weekend and start tuning the NA maps. I will then put the turbo stuff on.

Only complaint is it uses oil but does not smoke. WTF?

i think mine might use a little oil also, i think its just some that burns off, you know like after you have driven your car and you take the oil cap off and its all steamy from the heat, i wounder if that has anything to do with it maybe? or maybe its the nature of the beast

Who knows. Other than that, it is flawless and begging to be boosted.

I worry to go damn much to have fun with it yet.

If I can find a weekend empty, I would put the turbo and stuff on. I just don't have any.

Stock ZFR5J-11. I am not running any boost yet. Stock injectors and stock P28 Hondata map (that had to be richened up for the larger bore and better breathing IM).

looks good...just don't boost it before you tune it. Do you have a catch can? If so, does it drain back to the engine? Not sure on the missing oil...ask Larry.

It won't be boosted before it is tuned. It is currently tuned now on stock injectors. I am putting the big ones back in on Sunday and will tune NA for a couple of weeks. Then tune the boost maps................very slowly and gradually.

Yes, catch can but there is no drainback. I didn't feel like messing with it. I have a line hooked up to it so I can drain it but when I lifted the car up last time, I didn't see anything in it.

I am doing another compression test this weekend as well.

I posted on Larry's forum as well.

Edit, what is the black crap on the electrodes? Fuel or oil? It was never running rich so I am not sure how it oculd be fuel?

Looks good the slight greenish tint is just the additives in pump gas. The lower portion of the procelin being black is just from being rich on startup. But the plugs tips look really good.

you might open the drain and look for your oil there. Do not trust the window.

I will try that this weekend. If there is oil in there, I assume a drainback is needed.

If not, anything else? Where is it going?

I think the glare from the camera is making the electrodes look a little whiter in some of the pics, but they look pretty good.

I'm having issues with my setup too. We'll get through it.
