My car is progressing nicely; need to thank a LOT of H-T people...kinda long
The people I need to thank frequent this forum, and not GDD, so please bear with me...
Drove up to VA last week and dropped my '00 Si off at Steve Sakai's shop (sgT Racing). I had to go to Ann Arbor, MI for business, but then went back to Steve's shop for the weekend...
Steve dropped in my B18C5 shortblock as well as some other parts I had accumulated over the years:
EK9 (OEM) LSD, which fits in the Si tranny if you use the 4.4 final drive from an ITR
Spoon motor mounts, which have HARD rubber inserts - highly recommended
ITR Lost Motion Assemblies
ITR/Portflow valvesprings
Fresh set of OEM retainers
B16A head with mild port & polish (Portflow), stock B16A valves, and fresh valve seals
All of the OEM parts that my friend Scott (MadtownSi) recommended for doing the shortblock swap (he had previous done a similar swap on his Si)
B&M fuel pressure regulator (my first USDM mod)
To complete my setup, I had a Spoon TB, stock Si intake manifold and stock B16A cams, Mugen axle back exhaust...
my new cylinder head is ready for larger cams, but my wallet is not
So we go to the dyno, and its like 93-95 degrees and humid as hell; this dyno is not the one Steve normally uses, and it only has a tiny little fan (which creates some issues with my ARC box). Initial baseline pull is very very discouraging:
148hp, 123ft/lbs torque
Steve says not to worry, proceeds to dial in the PowerFC via the Datalogit. My final numbers were:
161hp, 125ft/lbs torque
Sounds ok, not great right? So then look at the difference in the plots:

By tuning the PowerFC (via the Datalogit), Steve was able to gain power and torque across the entire powerband, the maximum gain was like 39hp and 35ft/lbs torque.
Now look at my plot overlayed with one I found on Honda-Tech for an ITR with similar bolt ons (Spoon header, Mugen exhaust and Comptech Icebox/Mugen intake); here is the original thread:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=707483
I know it's not apples to apples, and I am in no way trying to diss the other dyno plot, It is the SHAPE of the plots that I find intriguing:

My plot is the faint one in LIGHT blue; you can see that, even though my motor loses out on power after about 6200rpm (due to the B16A cams, Si intake mani and probably the ARC intake), it has significantly more HP and torque at 5700rpm.
I think I have a solid basis for making more power once I get some cams. I'm thinking Toda A or Jun2, but it'll have to wait...
ANYWAYS, there are some people I would like to thank for their assistance:
Len, who always helps me out on OEM parts, and treats me like family
Trey(Asahi), who let me borrow his Datalogit, no questions asked
Leo @ PasswordJDM for giving me a good deal on the Spoon motor mounts
Marc (RealTypeR) for the killer deal on USDM ITR final drive
Chris O'Quinn(coquinn) for selling me the new shortblock AND for letting me keep it in storage until I was ready to use it, and for driving 5hrs one-way to bring it to me
Mike M, who GAVE me a set of B16A intake valves to use on the portflow head (so Steve could prep that head in advance)
Dave S.(SMSP), who came into the shop at 2AM on Fourth of July weekend to weld up one of his exhaust b-pipe derestrictor flanges for me
And of course, Steve Sakai (sgT), for doing a meticulous assembly job and taking the time to extract all the power that was possible from my very limited setup. Also thanks to his parents for their warm hospitality during my stay
Here are some more pics:
My Spoon header GLOWING; the heat was affecting the ARC box, but I think I found a way to isolate it from the heat. Also, I found the right K&N filter to drop into the ARC box, so hopefully I can change out the filters before next trip to dyno

To help offset some of the labor cost, I agreed to give Steve my beloved Cusco Super Single clutch/flywheel (made by OS Giken); I think I regret it already...the stock Si clutch slips ridiculously compared to that thing

At least I have my SS Work's cam gears to offset the loss of my JDM bling clutch

Oh and a big THANK YOU to my buddy Chris in Okinawa (DC5RK20A), who sent me a replacement remote for my bling 2-DIN Sony headunit, so I can access most of the menus again

The car runs GREAT, even at partial throttle, and the ARC intake gives razor sharp throttle response. The LSD helps a lot, the difference is quite noticeable. I just wish I had the Cusco clutch...
With any luck, my modified NSX calipers and redrilled 28mm thick Legend rotors will be here in 1-2 weeks (please Jamie please), and then I will take a break
***CLIFFNOTES*** Shane gets B18c5 bottom end for the Si, makes very good midrange power, and is very thankful he has many many friends on H-T

I drove Shane's car last night. And, only thing that I can say is... "WOW! That car is so smooth throughout the whole power band that it's ridiculous. At one point in time, I didn't even realize that I was redlining, 'cuz it felt like the motor could rev forever.

Nooooo! I get to see that Alien Goggle radio again!
I would not be comfortable with that in my car, don't you feel like someone is looking at you?
Ahem, anyway, so that was the project you are on instead of pimping in Atlanta with me couple weeks ago. sigh.....Tunning > Ray....

The B16A (minus cams and IM) is at sgT Racing; I want to hold onto it for a future "project."
I'll try and have Len use his bling camera to take some pics this weekend of the car, hopefully after it has been washed

B18C5 shortblock tucked away in the engine bay can pass the wifey sniffer test; an ITR in the garage cannot
