Wheel restoration
my wheels are kinda old and in need of a makeover:
even though they are kinda dirty in this pic, you can tell the finish is whethered

a little bit of a scrape on the lip. i think it happened when they were shipped to me

blurry but there are some chips on the spokes too

in this process of restoration i want to have the lip fixed so there are no scratches and also polished, then have them re powdercoated. first i will probly remove the current color with that aircraft remover ****. then to fix any imperfections in the wheel would i then take it to any machine shop? also since i want to have the lip polished, would i want to have a machine shop polish the lip then get them powdercoated or visa versa? basically im asking what would be the best way to get the wheels refinished with a polished lip. then when im done is there any way to get the volk racing stickers so i can put them back on the spokes? i asked a local shop but they said they couldnt get them due to knockoffs and what have you. tia.

When I had the lip on my wheels polished by a local shop, they said that the lip should always be first, and the powdercoating last. While polishing, with some wheels it's difficult to get the whole lip with spokes that curve outward and block the path, good chance they might make contact with the spokes. It's easier for a powdercoat company to simply mask off what they don't want painted.
