Well bang for the buck (dont forget to mention ease) would be a b16. Theirs parts all over the internet. If you have a little more cash i would save up for a b18

P.S. after mods install and engine/tranny i put about 4 grand into the swap

Ok, not worried about money but kinda a noobie i would say B18. you'll have to find somewhere online to buy the engine. im sure someone will post a link. Next checkout a website called HASPORT.com. they have alot of tech stuff on swapping b18's into CRX's. I would then say get a smaller raidiator and put in a turbo or Nitrous. get your header at hasport. they just made one for a b18a crx. Theirs so much other stuff you can do. such as replacing you cams/gears, flywheel exhaust. what crx do you have si? dx? each one requires different things. any questiosn just ask

get a b16b it is a b18 block with a b16 head that way u have a b16 valvetrain and u can have b18 pistons and stuff. gr8 motor. go that way it is cheaper than a b18 but more than a b16.

a b16b is a jdm civic type-r motor ...its a 1.6 ,not a 1.8
and has civic type-r pistons in it (stock)....not b18 pistons..
a b18 block with a b16 head is an "ls-vtec" not a b16b
and a b16b its a little more than a gsr motor,,a little less than a integra-r motor,..
where did u get ur info from.. </TD></TR></TABLE>

Not sure where you get yours either.

The b16b is a destroked b18c.

wtsexton knows whats up. A b16b block is the same as a b18 block. A b16a block is shorter.

just dont listen to mrspeaker. we all proved him wrong but ya the b16b from what i have heard is a b18c block with a b16 head. so i would think it is a 1.8 but im not 100% on that. i would think so tho. but ya get a b series there are so many parts for them. wether its the b16b or a b18cor whatever. i prefer b series.

there is no different block, a damn b16b is a higher compression b16a with higher reving cams and a better valvetrain, possibly balanced better to, thats it, and its obd1 and not obd0. how the hell can u call a b16b a b18 thats shorter, thats stupid.

Look guys the ones of you saying the b16b is a higher compression b16a are wrong.

Its a destroked b18c with b16a crank, longer rods and high compression pistons. And the head shares the same cast as the b18c5 and b16a.

Yes it can be 1.6 in a 1.8 its all about the stroke.

wow!.....It's amazing how much people THINK they know about Honda's. The stuff you're talking about right now is just simple facts about motors but you fight with each other. It's funny.
A b16b BLOCK is the same height as a b18 block. NOT the stroke.
No crap a b16b is 1.6 litre!
A b16a block is a shorter block but is also a 1.6 litre (maybe 7mm shorter, I don't remember)

And b16b has higher compression than a b16a

i was looking at the specs and i like the b18c5 now would this be a smart move or should i go with a b16 i am looking for the engine with the most horse power stock which i believe is the b18c5 but i also want to know how much modification i need to drop one in. but then again i heard it is a smarter move not to with the b18c5 because it is overpriced and really not that much better.

I believe that the money saved on the price of the R can be used to make the gsr faster than the R. Look at my link in my sig for info. Ryan
