diagnose my clutch problem v.pressure plate or disc?
i had a ACT stage 3 (ss or whatever it's called) clutch put in about 20k miles ago.
i just did a 7k drop the other day and it didn't grab. it held at 7k for a few seconds, then it lowered down to 5k, then went back up to 7k, all while not engaging.
normal driving, it works like a champ. no slipping during acceleration or anything. it just won't hold high rpm drops.
well i'm going to bust open my tranny shortly to put in a lightweight flywheel. do you guys think this is a cheap fix (the disc) or expensive (pressure plate) ??

And you are dumping your clutch a 7k rpm for what reason???
You say during "normal" driving conditions your clutch is fine?
The only time your clutch would act up would be during any engagement or disengagement. However, your situation doesn't seem to make sense. The RPMs wouldn't drop to 5k, then rise back up to 7k for no reason and there be no engagement at all. Are you sure your tires weren't spinning? That's about the only logical answer there is.

i just dumped it at 7k for ***** and grins...no reason. i am just spontaneous/stupid like that.
no my tires weren't spinning, my car wreaked of clutch for a good 6-8 hours afterwards.
yea my clutch is fine during normal driving. i rarely hit VTEC during normal driving. i've never had it slip on me...just when i drop at high rpms.
