Not that anything you posted makes it an ITR for sure, but there were 96 ITRs (and 95 technically) so it's not exacting impossible or shocking or anything if he bought a 96 ITR in japan.
if its from japan,i can believe that, im in the cayman islands n ppl import real jdm itr's str8 from there for 3-9grand all the time, perfect runnin condition, although they're used with about 30-80000 miles. so i think he really does have one.
the most common are the 96 and 97's

Yes, I understand it's not impossible to buy a ITR in Japan.....the question is...how can he tell/check to see if it's a true ITR????
The 4 lug is the main reason why it's in question.
Thanks for the help so far

Naw my friend that lives by me, owns a 97 CW JDM ITR and his has the CF trim, non SRS steering wheel, and 4 lug pattern. His looks cool with the Racing hart C5's
tho.

if were talking JDM then 97 spec came with the 4-lug also. JDM didnt start getting the 5-lug until 98, oddly enough the 97 usdm which was the first year for the R in America of course, had the 5-lug!
So
JDM 96&97
4-Lug
JDM 98+
5-Lug
Usdm 97-98, 00-01
5-Lug
Hope that clears the issue up!
