i am running a stock JDM ITR in an EG with a koyo ITR radiator and slimline fan....i want to change out the stock thermostat since its been having problems opening up and also add a thermoswitch....im just concerned that if i get the spoon combo i will have issues reaching proper temp....what would be the best combo? why bother with the switch?

If you're still overheating after the t-stat replacement than you have some other problem.

I have a 96 ITR B18C-R with 2" Radiator on my EJ with Mugen Stat., Mugen Cap, and Water Wetter. I'm in Southern Cali and it getting warm here., my set up cools great.

I'm still using the stock fan switch, fan barely comes on.

OEM replacement...the sp00n and I had a lot of problems, the car never made it to operating temperature on the street. How's everything going...I think that you still have my number.

Did you change the timing belt and water pump when you installed the swap, if the water pump fins aren't up to par, or the water pump is on the way out it'll contribute to the poor cooling.

A stuck or partially open thermostat usually causes the car to overheat on the highway. So if you are always overheating on the highway but not during city driving...pretty sure it is the thermostat.

my recent issue was, my car would only reach normal operating temp in the city.... as soon as i hit the highway, temp would go way down.... all my cooling components are OEM.

swapped out the thermostat and its fixed.

Default PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!

I somewhat figured out what his colling problem was...

After replacing the thermostat on his motor, we tried bleeding it for a long time but it seems like we couldn't get the damn thing bled thoroughly.

He has a Koyo radiator in his ITR powered EH and whomever did his swap couldn't get the reservoir to fit so they purchased some weird reservoir from a domestic auto shop. I noticed it was vent-hole up top and I know that the OE units aren't vented at all. So I plugged it up with a screw.

I was curious about the design of the reservoir so I popped it open and to my surprise, there was no tube leading down to the water/coolant just like the OE unit. I know the radiator spews and sucks up coolant from there.

So I rigged something up for him since he no longer has the OE one. This is just a temporary fix untill he gets one but this should get him by for the meantime.

nice meeting you hubb! let me know if anything elses wrong....
