i have the same problem with my crx hood which is fiberglass what i do to open it is get a friend or a stick and make sure the latch is completly up and then hit the hood down once and then lift it it always works for me guess you should try?
On my CF hood I have to have someone at the front of the car to push down on the hood while I pull the handle otherwise it won't pop. It great for when you're trying to work on the car by yourself.

i had a similar problem with mine, but mine was because the cable was stretched and would no longer pull it far enough to unlatch.. I just bought a new cable and latching assembly, was only like $40 from hondaautomotiveparts.com
I had the same problem as well. The most likely problem is the cable isn't being pulled far enough to move the hood latch. I had to have someone push down on my hood all the time to open it before, but with some inspection I realized that the upward force of my hood was greater than the force my cable exerted. The popping noise could be from and slight curvature in the hood latch (not fully releasing).
Vitrox, went the more expensive route fixing this problem. An easy fix is to: 1.) Remove you hood release line from your latch assembly. Pull down on the cable where it enters the latch assembly, then pull the ball end of the cable through the small outlet slot. 2.) Next you need to find a locking washer that won't fit over the ball at the end of the cable. 3.) bend the washer with a pair of pliers or something so it fits on the cable line. 4.) Once on the line acquire a channel lock®, vise grip® or something that has a lot of clamping power to bend the washer so it won't come off the line (This will depend on how thick the washer is. Mine was hard as hell to bend). 5.) ENJOY!
You might have to add another washer but if you hear it pop right now it means it's close to releasing so you probably won't have to. Didn't cost me anything to fix and installed in about <5 minutes!

hahahhahahah i almost spit my drink out when reading this :0
lmfao
no what you really wanna do is, push the pin that where the spring is, you'll have to look at it, but there is a latch/pin thing by the spring, you'll want to push that down and then close your hood, you will have to do it everytime you pop the hood though until you get a new hood latch
