It might be because the rear spline nuts need to be lubed and retorqued. There is a TSB out for the revised torque spec. It's 220 ft-lbs. I found this out on S2ki.com while researching slight vibration/shaking coming from the rear of my 01 S. The thread I read this from is http://www.s2ki.com/forums/ind...&st=0. I'll try the lube before replacing the diff. Watch closely for any shakes to follow too. I think my driver's side inner CV joint is going ... Good luck and let me know what you find out.

as mentioned, the spline nuts are one source for the problem, it can also be your rear brake pads seating in place when moving foward and back.

Mine recently was because of bad wheel bearings.

I have the same problem. I took the car in for the 45k service and mentioned the spline nut issue. I still have the problem...of course they may not have done the work

I think it's either the clutch, the spline nuts, or a suspension part. Sometimes the inner cup on the CV joint gets divots causing clicks, too. Mine seems to be on the passenger side. the brake pad issue seems plausible. I've ruled out the diff as I can start rolling without clicks, but when i press harder it clicks.
