Default Lose oil on long trips

After doin a headgasket, valve seals, and replacing the pcv valve im still losing a ton of oil out of my 96 gsr.

I did a compression test before the headgasket and my compression was still pretty decent. As i recall they were all about 210-205 except for cylinder 1 which was about 180 i think. That and the oil coolant mixing lead me to a put in a new headgasket.

Anyway, after that i dont really lose a noticeable amount of oil going around the suburbs and city but on long trips i'll use as much as a quart in 200 miles at 75mph. There are no visble leaks that i see either. WTF?

Anybody with ideas??

PS this is with a 10W30 oil. would burn slightly less with a thicker one

i have a 95 gsr and i'm losing oil too. it got so low that it triggered my check engine light for my vtec pressure switch. i had my friend drive while i watched and i noticed that whitish smoke at high rpms. so i'm going to say that it may be my rings that are worn.

if you have high mileage, your rings are probably shot. all the oil is most likely being burned.

quickshit, you gotta make sure you are a. leaking oil, or b. burning oil. with that info it'll be easier to answer.

btw, where in IL are you from??

Well thats what I wanna know. I dont think im leaking and im pretty sure that at least my compression rings are fine. I guess im gonna hafta have people stand behind me while i do some WOT runs.

Is it possible that im leaking some under load? Cus i think a qt in 200 miles is a lot to be just burned off.

Oh yeah, another thing, im from around the brookfield zoo area

Yeah, it does seem like an awful lot burned under any condition...
I guess check for blue smoke/**** in your muffler tip

And yeah, One of my good friends lives right in Brookfield, I'm about 10-15 minutes west of there. Cool to see someone from the area, oil burner or not

man, i know how you feel. the funny thing is i don't see any oil leaks under the car, but sometimes i think i smell what appears to be burnt oil and sometimes i smell coolant and i do'nt see any visible leaks.
