OKay im about to put my z6 vtec head on my y7 block. i need to know which arp head bolts to get - d16z6 or d16y7??????????

z6, since the head is off a d16z6, "head" studs

 

i think u might be out of luck because i tried a 95 dx head on a 97 dx motor and the arps dont work...had both of them...the z6 studs and y8 studs...on the head the spot that is up higher is on the opp side on the diff model heads...check it out

 

so what are my options??

 

i need to know the outcome of this bad because im doing the same project... i just bought z6 head studs.. am i just going to have to use head bolts? im boosting so id kinda like to use my new studs.

 

I believe you need y8 headstuds except for 2 that needs to be the z6 length. Someone confirm?

 

why y8? its a y7 block..

 

a buddy of mine (nerdsports) is running the same set up... z6 head y7 block... and i believe he had to use the y8 arp studs... he tried the z6 studs and there were a couple that were too short...

 

I used the Z6 studs on my B7 with Z6 head. All worked/fit fine.

 

I remember reading on this board after searching awhile that you need y8 studs, same **** for y7 and 2 studs for a d16z6. Try searching or hopefully someone here can confirm this for you.

 

if i need 7 studs from a y7 and 2 from a z6 where do the 2 go? see ive also heard that i need 9 for a y7 and 1 for a z6.. this is just crazy... i did notice that all the bolts for a y7 are the same length and all the bolts for a z6 are the same length.. but the z6's are infact about 3/4 of an inch longer..

 

I personally have a z6head/y8block combo. You will need all y8 studs except the upper left stud will need to be a z6 because if you look at the z6 head one spot sits up higher.

there you have it.. close enough. You can order them individually from ARP if you want 1 or 2 of them from a Z6.

 

o ok i didnt know that.. ok i ordered the wrong ones.. i ordered the z6 ones, i just changed the order to y7 ones and ill see if i can get two z6 studs from arp.. thanx guys..
