Default Need opinion on USDM ITR header/extractors

Hi all,

My first topic posted here...

I'm in Australia but I'm confident the USDM ITR is similar to the Australian ITR in most respects (well, we get Recaros standard... hehehe)

A friend is getting rid of his stock ITR header when his new one comes in. Is this worth swapping onto my EG6? (B16A powered obviously)

Can you guys tell me something about the design of the USDM ITR header? Is it a 4-1 design like the JDM one but with a smaller (2.25"/60mm) collector? I'm not wanting to lose too much low-end torque...

Thanks...

All USDM headers are the two piece 96spec cast iron, Stainless steel downpipe units with a 57mm or so collector. I'm not sure what kinda header the UKDM cars get but I suspect it is either the JDM 4-1 or the USDM 4-2-1.

If he is giving it to you for free....either header would be a step up particularly the JDM 4-1 over the stock 16A piece of art.

The AUS/Euro ITR header is NOT similar to the USDM ITR header!!! But it's also two piece 4-2-1 design with a 57 mm collector (double walled). At least it's better than the stock B16A header.......

Thanks.... so the Euro market ITR and the Australian market ITR is the same machine?

It would make sense. I hear the compression is same as 98+ JDM... B18C7?

Can you confirm this?

thanks

Yes, the Euro ITR is almost the same as the AUS ITR. There are some differences like steering wheel and RHD/LHD.......
The EuroITR has the B18C6....

Out of curiosity, what kind of steering do you fellas use?
I believe Australia has Honda-Momo OEM with airbag... I think identical to JDM SRS-equiped Type Rs....

(Hopefully I didn't misuse the word "OEM" in that context)

good timing on the subject. i've been doing research on stock headers. here are somethings that i've discovered in the last few days or so...hope some of this might help you and if you have something to add feel free.

I've got a 00 si for reference.

My friend made an obersation with the usdm itr header and the b16a header and concluded that the upper portion is the same or very similar to the b16a. i wouldn't be surprised if the downpipe is the same. its hard to tell because of the welded on shield. the collector on the usdm itr is about 2". i currently am in possession of the ctr header (2piece 4-2-1 w/ 2.5 collector". i took my heat shield off of my car too day to compare the upper manifold of the my b16a header and ctr. they look identical. i even had a friend take pics of a jdm gen2 b16a header and i compared them to the pics and they are the same or very very similar. now, the ctr compared to the usdm itr, they're identical in every way except for the collector. i personally believe they put a b16a header on us itr's. i could be wrong though. i'm still trying to figure this out. i feel that you can take the b16a downpipe and chop the collector off and have a shop weld on a bigger one. same goes w/ the us itr downpipe.

i'm about 85% postive that the upper portions of the b16a, us itr, and ctr exhaust manifolds are the same.

when i have money to get a carsound cat for my car, i'm going to just mount the ctr downpipe to the b16a upper manifold and see how it does. i'll let you guys know how it goes.

btw..anyone interested in a brand new spoon cat jack? email me for details.

According to the other guy (EuroITR), the AusDM ITR and EuroITR have a different header to the USDM one, but I can't imagine it would be much better.

However, this thing about the CTR intrigues me. I also have a friend who drives a CTR who just changed his header for a HKS 4-1 job.

You're saying the CTR header is basically the same as a B16A header? (Assuming B16A headers are the same the world around, which might be a big assumption, now that I think about it... but they can't be that different can they?)

I'll have to check them out in person...
