i'm convinced our cars need high end hp. NO MATTER WHAT YOU USE IT FOR!
the general ideas for our cars are that if you are gonna drag it, you need mid range hp, and if your gonna run it on a track, you need high end hp.
but from personal drag experience, say you launch at 3500 - 4000, you are only in mid rpm's for a couple of seconds, then vtec kicks in you hit redline very quickly, if you shift a bit passed redline, your shift will not bring down your rpm's any lower than 6500rpm - 7000rpm.
so......basically, i want to hear everyone's arguments for mid rpm power (no flames please).....y do u need them?
thanx.

so when you romp on it and you're not in the desired gear(maybe the next lower gear will be too high for downshifting)... the power's gonna be there with midrange power.
this applies well on track and street.
on the street, midrange is good for power in the next gear.
rather than falling below your powerband, if you have a sick midrange and your competition doesnt.. you'll pull him when you shift into the next gear.

Absolutly, I think that trying to build your car for more mid range is kinda pointless. You dont race in the midrange, you race up top.
BTW, I can shift at 8 grand and still fall in VTEC. (USDM final drive, 4.40)
