Default I think i know whats wrong....

Well if anyone remembers my car died on me a few months ago and i have been trying to fix it with a tight budget, and almost no mechanical knowlege.

Well today i had my girlfriend helping me out by draining the radiator. Well her, not knowing where the drain was (i don't either) pulled the oil plug and guess what came out????..it had all my antifreeze in it..instead of oil there was anti-freeze, LOTS of anti-freeze and then some thick nasty looking oil.

So that brings me to my question, what happened? I have tryed to remove the cylinder head but after 12 years of heat it doesn't move for anything. Above that i have a DOHC ZC engine coming in, in about a week or so, but i am REALLY overwhelmed by all the wires and hoses and metal crap... i don't know if i can do an engine swap!

Maybe its time i give up; throw in the rag and get a ford or something

antifreeze in the oil... good thing you're getting a new motor. your head is warped or you've got cracks in the block or the gasket blew. you did'nt by chance get her to put antifreeze in the car did you? just kidding. you can do the swap. just research it and what you can't find in search i'm sure you'll get help from the board. also a good flathead or a putty knife tapped in will break that head seal.

Well today after i get home from work i'm gonna bring home my hammer and my putty knife so i can take off the head. I'll post what i find once i get it off. I guess it doesn't really matter now if there is alittle bit of damage to the block from a hammer, but i'll try to save it the best i can

that much coolant in the oil is not just a bad gasket. was the motor puffing white smoke?

not that i know of, i was driving and all the sudden it started sputtering and the rpms started jerking and falling. So i pulled over and she was dead ....i have an idea of what happened inside the combustion chamber, here is how i imagine it...

the spark plug in #3 melted at some point, then the pieces of metal that fell on to the piston then rubbed their way through the cylinder wall thus letting the coolant into the chamber and killing my baby through internal bleeding..poor girl

uh...6 months ago i began swap with absolutely no knowledge of cars whatsoever. my crx being my first honda (well i had an accord but i dont count that), i figured id just pick this up and have a nice, reliable, economical vehicle. then i started to brainstorm. to make a long story short i got a b18a1 for a really good deal ($200). so i knew that i had to tackle this swap. ive spent countless hours on h-t and i completely suggest you do the same. ive learned everything i know from this site and im damn near doen wtih my car. you can definately do this if you want it bad enough...good luck and dont let minor **** get you down.

Thanks man, i spend about 3-4 hours everyday reading almost every topic in the CRX/civic part and i am slowly feeling that i can do it with alittle help from my friends..(burst into song)...j/k but i'll be on here almost every few hours once i start my engine swap, i'm hoping to have it done in a few days (2-3) **crosses finger** but either way i wanted everyone to know how greatfull i am for this site

Yeah i had a guy a friend refered to me replace my timing belt and my clutch...the clutch was kinda hard ( we did it in the engine bay) but i found out he did some shitty work..the engine mount bolt in the front wasn't tightened and flew off as i was driving back from work...and i also found out that the tranny mount wasn't tightened either and is now loose enough to move the engine freely but i decided i'm gonna learn my car and do all the work myself so i KNOW its done right
