Erratic RPM's
I have a 1987 Accord with 287K on it. Recently it has been acting up on me. When I am idling the tach show's the RPM's bouncing arround erraticly. It's barely detectable in the sound from the motor though. When I am driving between 2nd and 4th it will do the same thing and the motor seems to jump. Originally I thought it to be a clutch/transmission problem but it does it even in nuetral and the car repsonds to the higher rpm's (jumps foward) rather than it just acting like the clutch is going out (high rpm's with no response from the car). Which makes me think it is some kind of fuel delivery problem. Anyway, anybody have any ideas on what it could be?
Is you car carbourated? If so, sounds like you might need a new carbourator. If not, Here are a few ideas.
1. PCV Valve might need to be replaced.
2. Vacume Leaks, (Check all vacumes)
3. Try cleaning your Carbourator with Carb cleaner.
4. Try replacing your intake filter.
Good luck
