Automatic transmission on 93 accord LX slipping
I recently bought the car had the trans drained and filled (twice, a day a part) then it began slipping. Its got 130K miles. Now the trannny mechanic suspects that the previous owner did not service the tranny before (it probably got serviced at 40K when the previous owner bought it).
A soft overhaul would run at least $1,600 so what are my options?
Buy a rebuilt tranny? Replace it with a H22 tranny? I thought about this since I was planning to install a H22 when the engine dies which may be a while since I just had the belt and other front end stuff replaced and compression is still good. Does anyone know if the final gears are the same on the F and H auto trannys? I’m guessing the H22 tranny has more aggressive gearing but I do not want to suffer on the top end and with gas mileage.
Can’t convert to manual since wifey drives the car once a while.
UPDATE: I called another tranny place and they said the problem was that the quick lube shop used dexron II, he said that if we replaced it with dexron III and add half a bottle of additive from Pep/Kragen it would stop slipping. This additive is supposed to make dexron III equivalent to honda ATF. Does anyone know what additive this guy is talking about?
Thanks!

found out the differnt additives that I can use. lubeguard, lucas, transx, prolong, and transmatic. Which one do you think will help for slipping. I know its not a miracle in a bottle but its worth a try. Also how much should I use?
thanks!
