Hifonics Brutus BX1500D SHUT OFF, turned back on??? then shut off again!
update: the cover on the lightning audio circuit breaker/fuse was the culprit. somehow it was grounding out the system?? amp has been goin strong for weeks now with no shutting on or off anymore, no matter how much i push it. i'm so mad, when i find something to replace that lightning audio circuitbreaker/fuse, i'm gonna have a my own personal bonfire with it with lots of lighter fluid.
checked all my fuses that needed to be checked...every fuse is ok..
obviously, since the amp would have never turned back on if any fuse is blown,
right??
so saturday morning i drive to the bank..my bass was turned down
(i have a 12" XXX resonant engineering sub in a ported enclosure, it hurts you)
after making my deposit, i start the gsr, wonder why this certain song has no bass..
oh wait, the amp aint on!!! check all the fuses..they look fine..connections look fine.
this was saturday morning.
then early morning yesterday (tuesday) while driving to work...10 mins of driving..
amp turns on! 213 - groupie love sounds great with bass dammit..
so it works the whole day..get my valves adjusted at pro street import and they
serviced my radiator..amp still working when i pulled up.
after the valve adjustment i start the car up to drive home, and the amp doesn't
turn on again?!?!?!!!
WTF??!?!?!?!???
oh well, indoaudio is giving me a replacement for 20 bucks.
good warranty if you ask me.
even if the amp is ok, i'm getting a new one...my friend said the same ****
happened to him when his power wire was "pinched" by something...
but his power wire wasn't a 4guage..since his amp wasn't pushing the power mine's
is.
ANY THOUGHTS/IDEAS would be appreciated

dude, im do not posses alot of 'knowledge of car audio and installation' and im not here to boast about anything
but i know this, YOU ARE AN ******* IF YOU CAN DISS HI-FONICS BECAUSE OF A BAD GROUND AND/OR RCAS AND/OR ANYTHING THAT WENT WRONG WITH THE INSTALLATION

yeah, and you guys are beginning to make this forum sound like gdd.
keep it clean fellahs.
hifonics in the past has been an exceptional company. eveyone who knows systems knows about the old-school zeus amps. get the new amp for $20. if, after you install this new one, it doesn't work, then it is your wiring. so if it IS your wiring....
promptly /yourself.

okay i'm on my 2nd one and it's doin the same thing.
so yah i fucked with the voltage alot when we first installed it, which was bad..
but if i burned the amp out it wouldn't suddenly come back on after a week of being shut off.
i wonder if it's the wiring or something =\

What kind of fuse do you have on the amp power wire? [at the batt.] if it's the glass kind, try replacing it,even if it looks good, one of the problems with using that kind of fuse when running a sub amp, [or any highpower amp] is the fuse has a lot of resistance and will get hot, and as it gets hot it builds up more resistance and gets hotter, hot enough to melt the solder that connects the "fuse" to the end caps, I have replaced more then a few of them in cars that were haveing the same problems as you discribe, and if it turns out to be the problem, replace the fuse and holder with a better type,[waffer, mega, or even a maxi]

do you have multiple amps hooked up and are they using the same amp remote/main power cable?
Also are you sure that the amp is not "on" or do you just not hear it?
Have you measured (with a DMM) the voltage at the B+ and amp remote terminals when the amp is not working?
Answers to these questions would help to solve a lot of this.

that's my only amp.
lol i can tell when the amp is on because not only does it have an on light, but the letters "HIFONICS" all light up in light blue ..which makes it pretty obvious
(didn't expect you to know that considering most of your amps are PPI or ARC.

okay so i got the battery/starter checked up at kragen...
it was at 14.3 volts with my headlights/radio on...so that's fine..
dad's voltmeter thing runs on two watch batteries and it's super low on batteries so i wasn't able to check th voltage on the power wire/ground wire by the amp.
