Default **Beginnings to my DIY paint/bodywork ** (....uh oh...)

Well after reading along about the guy (56k modem doesn't feel like hunting for his link) who prepped his black Integra, I knew that I could have a good chance at doing this myself also.
Rather than stare for hours on the inet on paint and bodywork, I decided to pick myself up a book and READ READ READ. Went by Borders and got this sucker for $20.00 (the all color pictures is what sold me into this one over the others).
Amazon link for the book

Well here's what my first attempt of bodywork turned out like, and ya, the hood well, I got creative later on .

I didn't really know what the crap I was doing, applied too much bondo on the hood, and did a skimpy primer job, but heck, it's my first car, give me a break!
Since I do not own a digital camera, I can't really take specific pictures of all this ...yet....but here's a shot of the lumpy sides of a 16 yr old DD car.

Now those fenders are gone, so I don't gotta worry with them.

Man, I need to borrow a camera again, gone is the "rust" hood now, it resides in the garage. Gone is the uber ghetto front bumper. I've got straight 88-89 jdm fenders, the ef9 hood, and the ef9 front bumper (needs a lil bit of work) along with the yellow fog lights. J's racing cf lip copy will soon be on order, as well will the filler piece. Misc. new brackets and bolts from Honda and I'll be set (hopefully). I'm still contemplating on whether or not to have the mouldings around the car painted, and whether or not to leave the mirrors black or not.

That base will need to be spruced up a bit if they get painted, but not bad for $30

Again, this is the anticipated result:

As you can see the body is fairly straight with only one self inflicted rust spot in the door jam to take care of, misc. dings, etc.

Timeframe to completion: A month and a 1/2. Otherwise it will wait till Christmas time, or if a family member donates a bodyshop will get this job themself.

If you read this far, how bouts do I go on filling holes on the plastic bumper? It came with a bumper pole hole, but no pole.

Dang, this will prolly knock out my 56k modem.

**Bottom picture is not my car! I photshopped "davep"'s car to my color of choice, added some side skirts, the wheels, no keyholes, painted the mirrors and trim, and darkened the windows.....so anticipated outcome.

Local importers shipment should be here tomorrow morning.

I still need a few bits and pieces. I'm gonna try to grab all ef stuff that is usable, or sellable before they sell it on ebay. I dunno about what rex stuff they are getting, but I know of a few things for the Civic.

*what's funny is this is what the 3rd day or so and i still haven't started yet...i got sunburnt all to heck today and will be out of town this weekend ...it'll get done

well books read, but the local importer's crate, well the ones that are to put it on a train.....are still on strike in charleston sc...so no progress or news.

But I have two questions...
First off shaving the rear wiper, since it would be virtually impossible to weld metal to the inside of this, will i just need to cut some metal to fit that hole, and weld it on there? I don't wanna warp the metal, so I'll practice on somethin else prolly. Any tips on how to shave this w/out a worry of it coming loose or falling through later on?

And here's the cursed trim piece that I have convinced myself to just glue it down and not look at it since there will be a bent mark. I just am cutting this close to getting done, and don't really feel like paying an exorbitant amound of money for a whole nuther hatch.

If that can be removed w/out removing the glass lemme know about a replacement.
