Dumb Question: JG/ Edelbrock "Victor X" Intake Manifold?
Yaya, I know it's dumb.
Some stupid ad in a recent mag claimed 10-20(?) hp by using this intake manifold...
Now I don't want something as extreme as itb's, but an upgrade to the stock IM might be in order for those of us with goals of 210+whp... Extrude hone stock IM along with bigger throttle body and port match to head?
This "Victor X" IM apparently is perfect fit for 68mm (or was it 70mm) throttle body...
Anyone?
everybody has one now..skunk...edelbrock..extrude hone "lisa kubo series"..etc
Everybody says the skunk2 is just a copy of the itr intake manifold. I dunno because I haven't seen one in person... But in theory if the ports are bigger, then won't more air be able to get into the head? Or will that only work if you port the head as well? And then there's things like velocity and swirl to consider...
What about all these venom and str intake manifolds? Are these only good for boosted applications, or will they work with all motor setups as well?
I`d stick w/ what ya got and use the money for something else
Thanks for your response though...
they will probably give u the advertised 10-20whp gains..but on highly modded cars. Jojo Callos' car gained 20whp as I recall, but his car is a 650+whp car...I think in real terms, on a lightly modded car, u wont c more then 5 peak whp..but then again, why would u want to change ur intake manifold if you have only modded ur car mildly.
ad says optimized for max power from 7k to 10k.
designed for turbo and allmotor apps.
7.5lbs lighter than stock manifold.
the runners look shorter than the R ones, which means higher topend power
they ports look bigger too.
and its polished! looks good...probably cost to much though, anybody know the price?

ITB's aren't really designed for daily driving although they can be.
I'd spend money on headwork, better cams, hondata, and more compression. To get 240 n/a you'll probably have to do a b20 bottom end with 12:1's. You'll definitely need a kick *** header like sms or hitech. keep your manifold just get it extrude honed. good luck , let me know if you make that number.
