Viper ESP600, just bought car, no remote
I just bought a car and the seller couldn't find the remote for the alarm. The car at the moment doesn't use the alarm, I just lock it manually and everything is cool. I was wondering what would happen if I disconnected the battery and put it back?? It would suck if I would not be able to start the car after I put back the battery... I need to do a swap in the next week and I don't know what I should do. I don't really want to get an alarm but I might just have to.
btw this is a 92 Nissan 240sx. Thanks guys

Or is there a way to disable it without the remote?? I have no clue on how to remove the whole thing if that's a better thing to do.. And I don't want to pay someone to do it, might as well pay a lil more and get an alarm/keyless entry
Just get a new remote, program it into the alarm, and program out the all other remotes, right now someone else has access to your car
hope this helps. 94

Exactly what i was thinking. If i bought my ITR with an alarm in it and no remote, i would be shitting my pants. And since, its a 240...turbo??....i'd swap brains ASAP. Just call DEI up and send back the brain, tell them its defective, and they'll send you a new one. Go buy a new remote, and program it, and you are done.

just go to an authorized viper dealer, or any directed security dealer for that matter..they can get you a new remote that you can program after your swap....ask them to print you a copy of the install manual...or get it yourself at dei.com....should cost you like 40 bucks max for the remote.
Ok where can I buy a remote and get it programmed?
Also I recall calling Circuit City a while back... they had universal remotes that could be programmed, but the guy said that there's a possiblity that it wouldn't work or something, and once I open the box I can't return it. Something like that, this was a few years ago before I got this car.
So where should I go to get the remote, and also what kind of remote do I get?

look up the nearest retailer near you. they can order(some might have it in stock) a new remote and program it for you. if your that worried about the alarm, just unplug it. unplug the brain from the harness. dei used a open when armed starter kill. if the alarm is unplugged you will still be able start it.

OK guys I just looked at it. It's not a Viper 600 like I was told. It's a "Clifford Novell" and has "8161" not sure if that's the model # or whatever.
So I can just unplug the brain and my car will still start? How certain are you... because I don't want to unplug it and then my car won't start

You can get a new remote for the Clifford "Novell" [also from DEI]
Yes just unplug it, then try and start the car,if car does not start you have a normaly open starter cut relay, you will have to plug the alarm back in,or bypass the starter cut relay.
hope this helps.

Ok, just wanna make sure that if I do this, the alarm would not go off if I plug back the brain... similar to when you unplug the battery, and plug it back. Wanna make sure before I do this.. thanks for the help so far guys
