in your car or a dc5/ep3?

in a ep3 and base rsx, it's at 2200. in the base rsx, at around 4400 i think, the second runner opens up.

in the rsx typeS, vtec kicks in at 5800 with the oem ecu.

no, it's not vtec-e, that's only on hybrids

it's 2200-3000, depending on throttle position. I believe vtec changes over again at 4500, though.

em2 EX sohc vtec works just like k20a3's vtec ... it's the same exact thing (no vtec on k20a3's exhaust cam, so vtec is the same)

Yea, I agree. Plus, what's the point in having VTEC kick in at ~2200RPM? Yea, you'll have more power at lower RPMs, but then where would your gas mileage go? I know my friend's Celica GT-S kicks into VVTI around 6,000 RPM. Anyway, I always thought the point to having VTEC was so that at lower RPMs you could get better mileage, and when you want to punch the gas you get that extra power at higher RPMs...

sohc vtec on k20a3's and d17a2's are the same as the dohc vtec. It's for low fuel economy, which is why it "kicks" so low.

d17a2 and k20a3 both have 2 cam lobes per pair of valves ... (only on intake cam for k20a3) ... even the d16y8's had 3 cam lobes per valve pairs. You could still hear the d16y8's vtec kick with i/h/e and better with a cam, however ... the k20a3 and d17a2's vtec is a new version .... better known as weak-tec.

Ok, enough is enough. Do a search if you want to find out how the new K-series motors work. I won't have a flame-fest.
