D-Series Bolt on
I have a 97 ex. Everyone says that they do not respond well to most bolt ons, and well I'm not gonna argue that, but I was wondering if proper chipping of the ecu for fuel maps and spark plug timing would allow for the bolt-ons to proform better. Does anyone know of a good way to get better bolt on performance for a D series?
Every engine is basically a compressor. Compressing air/fuel mixtures and combusting them.
Four strokes, ie., Intake, Compression, Combustion, Exhaust.
Or, Suck Squeeze, Bang, Blow.
Hmmm, ten quick ways to bolt on performance.
1) Gut out your airbox/add HiPro filter
2) Suspension
3) Headers/exhaust
4) Lighten the load, ie., strip interior
5) Better (lighter) wheels/tyres/brakes
6) Forced Induction
7) Bigger displacement
8) Rocket Fuel
9) Anorexia Nervosa
10) Never ride with friends
Hell, my lawn mower is probably faster than your car!

you can run all the bolt-ons you want, but at the end of the day your not gonna get any gains until you rip the engine open or slap on a snail. Bolth well make your car a lot funner to drive.
Ya not gonna see big gains till ya turbo, swap internals, or put juice in. With the basic bolt ons dont expect over 30hp if that in gains. Gutting the crap out of it helps a lil but not alot. But everything you do for your car over all is what is gonna get you better performance over stock. Read up awhile on here so you can decide wha route you wanna take.
