SHORT SHIFTER!!!
ne 1 got short shifters in a 94-97 accord? what good are the adapters for short shifters.. and what do u do with em? use the stock shifter it just moves it back some or wut? and does any one no of a real short shifter.. i really would rather get a whole new shifter instead of an adapter kit.. i was lookin at neuspeed and i think that i might buy because it looks like a regualar short shifter but i only found it one place and it was like 150... any one got ne knowledge about em even for different years lets talk.. i wanna no some more about em.. and are they worth the money?
pspec and 4bidden both have true short shifters. they are actually for 4th gen preludes, but of course they are pretty the same thing. you can get them (the 4bidden units) off of ebay for $119 + shipping.
for the 4bidden one (http://www.forbiddenmotorsports.com) you would need to buy a couple of 4 dollar parts from honda to make it fit. the pspec tuning one (http://www.psectuning.com) fits directly on and comes with its own leather shift boot and new shift ****. consequently it is more expensive. personally, i will be going with the psec tuning one when they are back in stock, but thats just because i really like the fact that it comes with the whole package
my bad, that was a typo...its http://www.pspectuning.com

i think you should go with the pspec, they deal with only Honda's and Acura's and so its their job to know the most minimal of details, the Neuspeed, originally started out with concern for the Euro car market, so you have to consider that also, i dont use neuspeed products, i personally think that they arent up to par compared to most other brands, but again, that is my own opinion, but yea, i think the pspec is worth the money, buying something used, will break perhaps in 2 months and there is no warranty, consider that...
the problem with the adapter is that all it does is change the size of the throw, but the pspec and 4bidden ones actually change how the shift feels because they are made of quality materials (christ i feel like an info-mercial) with the adjustable 4bidden one you can change the length of the throw. if i remember correctly, the first notch is pretty close to stock length and then the other two are shorter. but even on the first notch, the actual shifter itself is shorter than stock, giving a shorter, better feeling shift
Is there a huge advantage to switching to a short shifter? The main advantage that I see is quickening your shift times, primairly for hard acceleration. I don't race my car much at all, if anything it would be autocross or that style driving. Am I way off on this? Is it worth it for moderate driving and focusing on handling over accelerating?
Many people buy them simply to make driving more enjoyable. Instead of the "rowing the boat" shifts the Accord is known for, you get a shorter, crisp shift which improves the driving experience.
I have pictures of the product installed in Preludes and Civics...dont know if I have any Accord pictures anywhere around.

That sounds like the B&M short shifter adapter.
That sounds like the B&M short shifter adapter.
those shifters are no different in how the ywork to the normal adaptors .
An adaptor and cutting an inch of the top of the gear lever would have exactly he same effect .
I can't believe no-one has realised that before now.
