you guys think the problem is using the z6 gasket along with the ls throttle body? the ls throttle body doesnt clear the gasket...when i open up the throttle i can still see the edges of the gasket showing.

If it's just when it's cold, it sounds like you didn't hook up the thermo valve (or whatever it's called) that some people loop when they do the y8 intake mani on the y7.

Its either the fast idle thermo valve or your Idle air control valve on the back of the intake manifold. Take off the IAC on the back of the manifold and clean it with brake kleen, or carb cleaner. My bet is on the fast idle thermo valve, this is very common when you get rid of it.

couldnt find a gasket @ this time so i used the gasket maker to close the throttle body to the IM. Hopefully this works...

bump for a similar problem on my d15b... car idles high can't find any vacuum leaks... i'm thinkin' it is either my iacv or my fast idle thermal valve... tried adjusting throttle cable as low as i could, tried turning the screw in the iacv, checked for vacuum leaks to no avail... I still idle at 1200 to 1500!

Spray carb cleaner around the tb gasket. If that affects your idle, you have a leak. But with your description i can almost guaruntee you its the fast idle thermo valve. Theres a way to fix it, ill post more in a little while when i have time.

i have 2 fitvs on me...one is an ls and the other is a z6...im pretty sure both are working correctly. even if i cover the hole on my throttle body the idle remains almost the same.

what happend when he unplug the iacv? did the idle drop? if the idle did not drop then he had a bad iacv if the not then the iacv is good. the clean the fitv.

Are you using a reprogrammed ECU? This can be the cause as well.

not exactly true. when i had a bad FITV i would unplug the IACV and it would only drop to 1500 and boune up and down quickly.
