Default need help building my suspension. Coilover brands, and other stuff.

I've been looking at different brands for coilovers. I want a good street/autocross setup. I has looking at the tein flex kit but i've been hearing mixed things. I've also looked at the apexi n1 but thats alot more money. I also looked at the zeal B6 set up. Also Band G coilovers.

Also for a camber kit i was looking at skunk2 in the front and ingalls in the back? any ideas

For a sway bar i was looking at a 23mm cusco and anther cusco bar in the front.

I was going to use 15" 99-00 si rims wrapped in falken azenies.

How does this setup sound? or where should i improve it.

I curretly have skunk2 strut bars F and R and a rear lower tie bar.

This is all packaged into my 98 4dr with a JDM GSR swap.

There have been lots of discussions about various coil-over systems here and the most popular selection for real function vs. investment if the need for bling is not a factor is the Koni Sport/GC sleeve system. Real testing of most of the JDM kits show that they are pretty and sexy but functionally not that great especially when the investment is considered. Some are functionally very poor and hide really low end commodity shcok functions behind pretty aggressive spring rate selections.

If bling and boasting to your buds is important, the JDM kits over more flashy anodizing, theading, etc. Since your car is for street and autocross, an acceptable ride quality is important and having as big a true adjustment range (real effect rather than just the number of clicks) will help you tune more for street and autocross. Do some sesarches as a lot has already been said on most brands.

Haha Lee don't you work for Koni No for real though from the kits you said you have looked at I think you would like the Koni/Ground Control setup way more than any of them. Apex'i N1s are insanely overpriced so that pretty much takes them out. The Teins I think are okay for street but not stiff enough in the rear for real good handling (I have driven and ridden in an 2000 Coupe with Tein Flex). My buddy has an EK hatch with the Zeals those are probably the best of the options you mention. But again there like 3 times as much $ as the Konis with Ground Controls and will not perform any better. Plus from my experience as well as that of many friends Koni has good customer support.

Yes I do and I make no effort to either hide that fact or use H-T to sell them either. Check around and you'll find a lot of folks here using and recommending the Koni/GC set-up.

I still have a standing offer for free dyno testing of any JDM kits and we'll even pay the return shipping. Thus far the results have typically ranged from underwhelming to poor and a few folks have been pretty surprised by the real data. The one brand that no one here has sent in are Tiens so I would love to see some of them or any other brands if people want to offer them for free testing.

That's what I use and am very happy with their performance and value.

Christian, who doesn't find JDM "bling" particularly attractive

I have installed them on my last two cars. I would recommend them to anyone. They are great parts.

Let me know then send them in. I have heard a person or two wonder about these and saw an add myself making a few notes about their presentation. I'll not make any statements of my pre-conceptions until we get some real data from a dyno as that is the only quantitative, graphic proof. I look forward to continued dynoing.

Bring 'em on, anyone and everyone. Just let me know in advance so I can be ready and expedite the situation.

I love it! CRX Lee you make me smile. A guy who has a wealth of knowledge but yet still keeps everything in check neither pushing nor trashing any suspension components out there be it Koni, KYB, Tein, ETC...thus leaving me consult you before I purchase any suspenison.

As every other post you are in thanks for the real facts!

Man I know I wasn't being negative. I was trying to point out to this guy the advantage of having you on here as a resource. Just the fact that you are a member and available to answer questions makes me more likely to buy Konis...

When you last mentioned it, I asked my IT guy to post the SCCA shock tech Powerpoint on our site but he hasn't told me where it is. For anyone going to Solo II Nat'ls., I am going to so a shock seminar there as well on Tuesday night.

I have the Tein RE, and they are really stiff. But my car handles so much better now that I have them on. They really outperform the Zeal B6, and cost about the same.
