Default question about quick releases.

i am in the market for purchasing a quick release. do any of you have any experiences with both of these shown below? also, if you have any input or any or type of quick release please post. i am looking for a quality built quick release. something that doesnt have play or any other type of discomfort. thanks.

I'm running the esses quick release, have zero complaints and there's very minimal play ~ 1-2mm. For a system that has ZERO play, look into one that welds onto the steering shaft like the SPA technique.

I have first hand experience on the rap fix one and I have to admit that it is one of the higher quality ones with a simple design and ease of use. Holds on very tight with no play (that I can tell).

The downside is that it is very expensive.

Stupid question: What is a quick release used for? From the pics, it looks like a way to quickly connect/disconnect wires. But what applications can it be used for?

its not a stupid question, this is how if not most how all quick releases are used

that is a boss hub w/ a rapfix quick release. it is pretty much a thief device. the price however will scare a consumer and a thief.

heres how the lock looks like for an extra $ 120 on top of the price for the quick release.

i havnt seen any quik release application that carry an additional lock device.

what up s2x. im still kinda iffy on the wing, i have the oem wing on mine and if i were to get the wing right now i need somthing to cover up the holes. but the bys wing does look sweet.

do u have picture of the tekniq system? is it spline, hexed, or ball bearing? and the boss hub u have is it look like this

the rap fix quick release ive seen it on inlinefour for $357.14 for the quick release and $119.05 for the lock

so around 480, but i found this site near city of industry. it supposebly sells it for 300 plus 50 for the lock. i hope there talking about the same lock inlinefour mentions.

rus,
no worries on the BYS wing, let me know when you're ready.

i don't have a pic of the teckniq system but check your IM. the teckniq system don't work on the boss hub unless you could find the correct bolt to attach them together.

yes, the hkb boss hub i got look like the standard hub on the left of your pic.

the site you found "near city of industries" is the same system like inlinefour. if you go further and click the arrow down, it will say add $50 for silver or red. so, it'll be like $350 for the quick release and for the hub add $50 for the short hub=$150. so the price is pretty much like inlinefour.

the Splash rapfix looks identical to the Works Bell rapfix. Works Bell (japan company) offer rapfix II which is an improvement from rapfix I. what is the difference between Splash and Work Bell??

the one you are referring to is made by spa technique or sold by them at least. It's a nice piece but it requires welding to the steering shaft.

Damn, wish I had had one of those on my Civic before it got stolen

Sorry for going off topic, but I was just wondering if it's necessary for the S2000 considering we have the immobilizer, or are there ways to get around that?

i probably be getting the works bell too. my buddy may visit japan to get me a set. i want the rapfix II, the latest version.

i had the tekniq on my teg and it works well. i like it a lot but sold my teg. i wanted to use it on my S but it will not fit the hkb boss hub. i'd try to order some bolt to fit them together but the bolt store never came through. i waited long enough and it's time to for plan B.

there are and will always be a way to get around an anti-theft device. They can still steal your car even if you have a quick release setup. Besides, walking around your local supermarket with a steering wheel in your hand is not cool.
