Default Spark plug God please help

i have a b18b turbo (tdo5-mitsu turbo). i just built a motor with eagle rods, cp stock bore pistons. car wont start. it turns over but wont fire up, im suspecting bad spark plugs and/or distributer.

how do u check to see if spark plugs are working?
and if i have to buy new spark plugs do i need to gap them? and how do u do it for turbo applications?

pull a plug, put it on the wire and hold the tip of the plug near the engine block or some engine bracket, have a buddy start the car and check to see if the spark plug is firing. oh and use INSULATED pliars or something to hold the plug!
