suspension help please
hello peeps, i recently purchased a 99 gsr and was looking for a suspension set up, nothing too wild, so i was leaning toward the tokico HP system or the tokico Illumina system (those not familar with them they include the springs and struts), they offer an 1.5" drop all around and i was wondering if i will need a camber kit or anything. right now im just wanting to give the car a more aggressive look, but some where down the line i want to bring it to some weekend SCCA events to do some cone killing, so i was thinking strut bar set, urethane bushing, sway bar set and control arms. please any suggestions are welcomed. and again nothing too wild. if you are wondering what kind of wheels i will get, ill be getting 15"x6.5" rims.
thank you

I would look into a set of Ground Control's to accompany a good set of shocks. Or check out the new Omnipower coilovers, they're very reasonably priced. As far as a sway bar, don't go crazy with it, I'm a big fan of the JDM 23mm ITR bar. You can't go wrong with strut bars, again I'm a fan of the JDM ITR one.
I guess the best thing you can do is research. Figure out what you think will best suit your needs and then go from there.

well i was looking toward the ground control coilovers also but i didnt want to deal with coil overs i was thinking about just getting the tokico set and later on add the strut bars, etc. and i have been doing a lot of research but im just so confused
thnx for replying

I mean - if you are going to auto-x that thing - either do full coilovers, or do the GC/Koni combo, which really cant be beat that easily.
If you are just saying youre going to auto-x it, and you really arent, your standard Tokico Shocks and Springs will suffice for a decent looking drop, good handling, and cost effectiveness.

IMO, I don't think that having a coilover setup is absolutely necessary to have a good setup for both street and autocross.
For springs I would recommend springs that give you a bit stiffer spring rates with a mild drop, but nothing too extreme for a daily driver. I don't know what to recommend, so I recommend you do a search. For struts I would recommend an adjustable so that you can adjust for the street and track. Either the Koni Yellows or KYB AGX are good choices. I am sure that there are many other options, such as Bilstein and Tokico, I just know that these two have been praised by many. I would also go with Kendall's recommendation of the ITR rear sway bar. From here you can also add strut tower bars if you wish, a front sway bar, and experiment with these parts until you get your turn-in response to your liking.

hmmm... thnx for all the replies, im better educated now. i think i will get the tokico Illumina setup because its cheaper ($539 at shox.com) than the ground control coilovers and tokico Illumina which is close to $1000. for that price i think i'd go with a eibach coilovers they were great when i had them on my golf turbo. if others are reading this thread i would like more info on strut bars and sway bars, im also interested in control arms and other misc. parts of the suspension(bushings, camber kits etc.).
thank you all very much
