My Accord, the wild rodeo bronco
I have a 1994 Honda Accord LX (the 2.2L 4 cylinder) 5 speed. It has 120k miles on it, but the vast majority of those miles are from a few long cross country drives that the car has seen. I’ve done pretty well taking care of it, and changing oil regularly and whatnot. Only one accident; I rear-ended someone back when I was 15 and learning to drive – low speed collision, just bent the hood, didn’t damage anything internal.
Ok, so here’s the situation – when I first turn my car on in the morning and pull out of the driveway, the car bucks and kicks when I’m starting out in 1st. The problem seems more pronounced when the weather is cold, or wet outside, and seems to not be as bad if the engine is warmed up a bit or if the oil has been changed recently (as in within a week or so). It also seems to be related to torque, as starting uphill cause much more kicking and bucking, while starting out in 2nd or while pointed downhill is a much smoother take off.
The first few times I experienced it, I recall writing it off as just releasing the clutch improperly or something – it feels an awful lot like how the car would kick the first few times I was trying to teach my little sister to drive stick…
Any thoughts? I know it’s not me at this point, because I’m pretty sure I know how to drive stick and I’ve had a few other people try it out to make sure I’m not crazy. I’ve heard everything from a stuck valve in the air intake choking the car to a slipping clutch, or something with the clutch hydraulics…

sounds to me like your tps is not set to the right voltage...mine isn't either and does the same thing...try adjusting your tps to the numbers given in the helms accord service manual...
