cleaning fuel injectors the cheap way...(effective???)
I came across one post where someone pulled all of their stock injectors and soaked them in a bowl of fuel injector cleaner all night long. Nobody replied to the post.
I am wondering:
1) is this effective?
2) is it ok for the injectors?

why don't u get run it through ur fuel system, i mean it will clean ur intake valves too, just do it every oil change for a little bit, thats what im doing right now
i would pay rc engineering the $24.00 per injector to have cleaned/blue printed. You get before/after flow rates and tests. Plus one week turnaround.
i wouldn't submerge a solenoid in anything (since thats basically what an injector is) might damage the coil. probably not, specially if you let them dry all the way before re-installing. oh yeah, i dont think it'd do much good considering the injector is closed if it has no power running to it.

I work at a volkswagon dealership (I know, I know) and we use this stuff called seafoam and dump it right in the tank. The stuff is absolutely incredible. Soaking the injectors while closed isn't going to do anything and submerging them in any liquid will destroy them. Paying rc is a waste of money, if you had a clogged or partially clogged injector your car would have a misfire in that cylinder. Just run it through a full tank of gas, its cheap, effective, and almost effortless. Give it some wide open throttle runs after adding the cleaner to open and clean the injector all the way.
very small amounts of water or atf or sea foam in the mani while running idle at operating temp. at the acura dealership in my area they use water.... just slight amounts. you have to go slow and be easy with it, but it works great.

Sea Foam is cheap and effective
~$6/bottle and all you need is 1.

In my opinion, RC Eng. charges quite a bit too much for their injector cleaning and servicing. There are a number of shops that perform very similar services for roughly half that price. I've seen a number of shops online that will clean, "refurbish", and flow-test all four injectors for ~$50.00. If you're interest in having something like this performed on your injectors, it would be worth contacting one of the below shops. My brother will be sending a set of Prelude injectors out to one of them soon, so I'll be able to provide first-hand feedback once they're returned.
