i'm guessing ecu... my jdm ecu has no different markings on it. sometimes junkyards/importers write on the ecu "JDM" or something along those lines, but mine didn't have that written on it. i know mines a JDM cause its a pw0. mine has no different markings or anything than a USDM, sorry i can't help you more than that.

no no no.....lol, thats what type of ecu i have, the "PW0" i was just looking over my ecu cause its sitting on my desk for any type of markings that would make it different than a USDM ecu. i know mine's a JDM ecu cause PW0's are from sir crx's w/ b16's in them.... we kinda didn't have those here

Well a JDM ECU should have a speed limiter (I think they're set to 180 kph, around 106 mph), and if it's anything like my friend's JDM ITR ecu, it has the VTEC pressure switch built into the ECU, instead of on the solenoid itself. I don't really know if you can tell either of those by just looking at it, even if you looked inside it.

they really dont have any writing on them, just a few stamps in them that read numbers like a serial number. the only writing on them would be w/ a perm. marker from a junkyard/importer that read something like "JDM" just to mark it off. mine came from an importer and it doesn't have any markings on it at all.

A USDM ECU will have the P/N 37820-P72-A## on it. The A01 is the OBD1 94-95 ECU. The A02 is the 96 OBDIIa ECU. The A03 is the 97 OBDIIa ECU. I do not know what the rest are. The JDM ECUs are typically all numbers for the last three digits.

usdm p72, long rectangular box.
jdm p72 (obdI plugs) short square box.
jdm p72 (obdII plugs) looks just like the usdm,
unplug the oil presure switch from the vtec solenoid, plug thejdm ecu in, go for a test drive, vtec should still work fine with out cel.
