Default Check engine light, won't let me rev past 3000.

Well my check engine light came on while i was driving then i felt a sudden bog and i wasn't able to go past 3000 rpms. got home turned on the engine again and the cel was gone and everything seemed fine. went to safeway picked up some groceries then tried to start the engine and it took awhile and it barely started. CEL came on again and i'm not able to past 3000 rpms. came home and my car won't start unless i keep cranking for a long time. i'm guessing it is my IAVC but could someone inform me how to fix it? this is my 91 civic hb daily driver DX. diagrams anything would help

that is your CKP, or crank position sensor. which is located in the distributor.

alot of time if this happens , you need a new distributor. unless you have done a dpfi-mpfi swap and your wiring messed up somehow,

yeah i took out my distributor cap and i don't know what it is called but that little magnetic thing small looks like lead that small thing it broke so i'm guessing that is why my timing is off. that is what you get for buying distributor caps at kragen

Sorry to say it but you need a new Dizzy. If that Pickup broke for the sensor, its usually cause by a screw or bolt that fell in your dizzy before you put the cap back on.

ok so i would need a new distributor? i checked the wiring and got 450 ohms which is normal and check ecu and it was fine. yeah i'm guessing i would need a new dizzy because it takes awhile to start up also. but thanks for the help and hope you are right so i dont' waste my money
