Default shipping question

I am planning on buying a new b16 off of hmotorsonline, and I called and just asked a couple of questions. One of the things the guy mentioned is that I may need a liftcage(?) to get it off the truck. It tacks on another 65$ on the shipping charge. What is a liftcage, and is it realistic to get by without it? I know the engine is heavy, but I'm just getting the longblock so I can't imagine it would be so heavy that 3 or 4 people couldn't carry it. Anyways, any advice or experiences would be appreciated - thanks!

not really, i it only takes me and my bro to handle the b16. and we both weight around 130. just tell the guy to drop it on the ground then make urself a lil cart and carry up on the cart then push it to ur garage or where ever.

i think you misunderstood what he said - he more than likely said a "liftgate" which means it would need to be on a truck that has a liftgate on the back to lower it to the ground - normally it would just come on a truck which would require a forklift to unload it - 2 people can easily carry the long block - getting it down from about 4 feet off the ground is a little harder - probably need 4 guys to get it down - 2 on the truck and 2 on the ground - a little hint: if you have it shipped to a business address rather than a residential address, you can usually save about $50-75 on shipping charges

got mine out of a truck np. use a truck to pull it to the end of the semi trailer. then its only like a 2ft drop to the back of a pick up. and its only 310 lbs so get a friend or 2 and just lift it and lower it to the truck... way easy

don't you have a cherry picker already? (engine hoist) can't see why you can't use that yourself to get it off the truck

When I ordered my h22 from HMO, it came via a Watkins truck and the dude unloaded it himself and brought it right up into my garage.

I agree with jlicrx. He probably ment lift gate. Call around some trucking companies for the best rate. It shouldn't cost you more than $100. If it does you're getting ripped of. It only cost $160 to move a container =P
