ep3 supercharger question pls help...!
hello all..! im looking to buy an '03 si and want to know how dependable will that ep be after installing a jr supercharger...what kind of modification will i need to the engine if i get one? can you guys pls help me out on the pros and cons of supercharging an ep...? ive tried searching and couldnt find any hits...will the internals hold up pretty long with the jrsc? will be driven daily for about 25-30miles aday....? pls help me out ep owners out there that has this set up...thanks...!
i know for a fact that the greddy turbo kits can be run on stock internals @ 7psi but i havn't heard anything similar about the JR supercharger but i figure that it wouldn't be much different
thanks for replying...will i need to change anything internal if i get a jrsc? wat about ecu? will the kit come with it or should i get hondata? as far as the belts go, about wear and tear, how often will u need to change them...? thanks again
no upgrading internals is necessary. everything is provided with the kit. hondata k-pro will give you tuning ability for more power. wear and tear i'm not so sure about. i think they give you a 2yr/100k mile warranty.

You are an utter newb. Explain your logic, so I can own you.

anyone in here with the jrsc in their ep encountered any problems with their kit yet? pros and cons of having this kit in your car... what about that cooling system that jackson racing is selling for $599.00, is that necessary...?
thanks all...!

Don't forget you're going to need a high flow fuel pump. No one mentioned that, but with that much more air coming into your intake, you're going to need to also feed more fuel. I'm considering the JR supercharger for my 2004 SI as well. It looks like an amazing product. For now I just wait for my Neuspeed P-flo intake to arrive!
you dont need to upgrade your fuel system with the street kit like i have. i have had mine on for about 4k miles and not one single problem or check engine light. the kit comes with everything you need. includes a powercard that gets wired into your ecu, very easy, when it reads boost it adds fuel. the kit is very nice, and would recomend it to anyone who wants a very reliable nice power increase.
feel free to ask anymore questions.

thanks for all the helpful tips and info...really appreciate your help everyone....im really interested in getting one but jst worried what problems i might encounter in the long run if i slap on a jrsc in an ep...! how often will you have to replace the belts....? with that extra boost running in your car, will there be any problems with the pistons, ringlands...? or will the k20engine hold...! ive searched here and so far read only good things about the kit and how well it works...getting paranoid now after a bad experience with my 97lude after installing turbo in it....sorry if i bug...jst wanna learn more b4 i spend money again.....hard to recover after so much hard earned money went down the drain on my lude......! thanks again honda-tech community..!
No engine will ever guarantee super reliability if it wasn't designed for boost in the first place; I expected you would learn that already with your attempts to boost. Belts on the JRSC kits are replaced about in 15-20k mile intervals. You will spend money regardless of how much you know because boosting an engine that was never supposed to be boosted will result in complications in the long run. Worse gas mileage is one of the symptoms of boosting that occurs right away... there are others, I am sure you know of.

..check your registration date against mine NEWB. I don't normally post stupid **** like you to raise my post count dumbass.......I never said that a s/c was more reliable than a turbo just that it was a selling point for it.

gas mileage isnt a big issue. i get around 30 mph still on the highway. obviously if you boost a lot it will go down. worst i have gotten was 21, best i have gotten was 32.

I've gone on the JR website quite a few times checking out the SC and it clearly says they recommend upgrading your fuel pump...yeah, you don't have to, but if they suggest it and they're the ones making the SC, I'd do it just to be safe...just a suggestion.

I would imagine that the JRSC would probably be more relliable; generaly, than a turbo due to the nature of the way they deliver power. A superchargers power delivery is more linear and progressive, whereas a turbo's power comes in more sudden. This is the reason I went for a JRSC on my Type-R. That and the extra torque is quite usefull

CybernationMotorports at http://www.Cybernationmotorsports.com have a stock Ep3 running over 300hp with the usual turbo components and parts, and stock internals, If I recall correctly, they were running their shop Ep3 at 10-15 psi? You should go check out their site. JRSC will never have the power a Turbo can provide, but hey good luck hunting for what suits you.
