Default GOT FIRST CAR!

1997 Civic Hatchback DX
32,000 miles
guy is a professor and rode bike to school everyday

so yea i live in cedar rapids and we went down a city to iowa city to check it out. He had it listed as 4,600 then told us down there 4,150 and he drove me and my mom around in it, then my mom got to drive a few blocks. I didnt drive it yet cuz idk how to drive stick and will be learnin in the next few days. its friggin imaculet or however u spell that. clean as hell, in and out.

CONS:
the only things wrong with it is that it needs a new downpipe cuz its kinda loud and theres a lil hole. he said he talked to midas and the guys said 150 for it, but idk couldnt i just patch it or some ghetto stuff like that. And also there is a lil paint scratch on the bumper which i belive could easily be fixed.

97 with only 32,000 miles and we payed 4,100.....I THINK it was a steal.

ill be back with pics after we get titles transfered back to my town and a good washin

EDIT::: it doesnt have a tach?? i was like ok.....i was wondering if i was to get a CTR gauge cluster that would have a tach would it be able to actually work?

Wow you got the best deal. I paid 5500 for my 97 hatch with 48,000 miles on it back then. What color is the hatch. Show the pics when you get them

Great find man!

You could probably get a stock header from the classifieds for cheaper than $150 or for not a whole lot more you could buy a decent aftermarket one.

first off the motor you have is JUNK (sorry all the single cam lovers but i HATE them) no use in spending money on something you won't keep. GSR swap is best bet IMO i am not to fond of B16's and H series, or if you got some cash K series are nasty (accualy they can be done for very cheaply if you know where to look )

A Ex, Si, CTR, SIR, and RS clusters all have tachs, and they are all totally plug and play (there maybe more 96-00's with tachs not sure)

Anything else?

I am picking up my 1997 Honda Civic CX next Tuesday. I paid 4,200USD for the car. The car has 85,000 miles on it, mostly highway. It was used by a lady who maintained the car at a local Honda dealership. The engine was a beauty and it looked like she never had problems with the car because of routine checkups. Honda parts were used for everything that had to be replaced.

Now, this honda has an A/C and a nice Alpine which makes the car a perfect daily driver. Since I live in Boston, I cannot really afford having a new car until I get a house and a garage. Parking expensive vehicles on the street is not the smartest choice. I am plannig on keeping the hatch unmodified and getting an S2K when I find a new place to live.

I think that you got a great deal because your car has lower mileage and the only damn thing that you need to fix is the down pipe. Hatches are popular, and I believe that $4K+ is a fair price for what I (and you) got.

Good deal. $150 seems VERY steep to fix a hole, you might want to check a ghetto muffler shop. Depending on what you're going to do with it later, you might want to just go ahead and replace the header/cat/catback (whichever portion it is that has the hole) with an aftermarket one that flows better (unless you're planning to turbo, and the hole is in the manifold.
